My feet are very ticklish as well as very tender. I am wondering if foot tenderness is a good indicator of foot ticklishness. I'll give some examples of my foot tenderness. If there is so much as a grain of sand in my shoe it feels like a sharp rock. I have trouble walking barefoot on any but the smoothest surfaces. I can't walk barefoot more than a few steps on a hot sandy beach. If there are pebbles or shells on the beach, I can't stand to walk a step. I could not even begin to walk across a gravel driveway barefoot. New terry cloth socks hurt my feet.
Is it the case that people who can walk barefoot across a gravel driveway or play volleyball barefoot at the beach do not have ticklish feet? Conversely, is it true that people who walk gingerly with careful short steps when barefoot do have ticklish feet?
If both tender and tough footed people can have ticklsh feet, is there a difference in the kind of touches that tickle? Are tougher feet only tickled by firm scrapes, scratches, brushes, etc. Are tender feet tickled by the pulps of the fingers, light feathery touches, light scratches, etc. and find firmer scratches, brushes, etc. painful?
