Are Videos Getting Better or Worse?

Compared to a couple years ago?

Here's an easy test, compare videos from today's front page of the video clip section of this site, then go back 100 pages, and sample a few from whatever comes up. Have the production, bondage, creativity and models quality improved, gone down, or stayed about the same since then?

I'd argue there's less creativity than there used to be.

Well there are a few variables to consider when making the choice of better or worse, production value would go up over the years as new and better technology comes along and allow for better recordings, however talent and skills may dwindle when companies become comfortable with what they are doing.

I don't know much about tickling videos, but the same goes for pretty much any form of media.

I've been wondering that myself recently. To be sure, the quality of videos is obviously much better, but I find the actual content is very generic. Although there's a lot more producers, I find most of their catalogue's videos are very similiar, all containing (in my opinion) generically attractive woman, all in the same position on the same piece of equipment, as opposed to when a fewer number of studios featured more varied 'lees ranging from hot to cute to plain, in all sorts of situation.

Though some studios certainly keep it interesting.

In my opinion, there have always been only a few gems among the muck. The participants, especially the top/ler ought to have some charisma and there should be some (nonverbal) communication going on. If that's missing, and it very often is, then it's just boring.
I used to watch videos mostly for new ideas and to study the top/bottom or ler/lee interaction but most seem to be quickly and carelessly made just to provide the consumer with a simplistic trigger scene for a quick wank. Good, interesting and novel ideas and well made scenes seem to be a rarity. That applies not just to tickling but BDSM videos in general. Don't know about other fetishes but I would assume it's a similar situation there.

I started collecting videos (films and vhs tapes) over 25 years ago and the stuff today is much better than the crap back then. Still, today there are a few excellent producers (sorry, I won't name any names cause I'm not shilling), and the rest are, as one might expect, crap. Nevertheless, there is sooo much more stuff to look through than there was even a few years ago. So at least there seems to be something for everyone. As for variety, I don't care about fake stories or costumes. I just need a pretty girl with a great laugh.

I think my only problem with the knew stuff is that tickling models are more like porn stars, and I know that seems weird to say given the sexual nature of it all, but I'm actually turned off by the whole tickle model thing. Like the girls that are just typically tied spread eagle in a bikini and being tickled by another model. I'd first of all rather them be wearing some actual clothes, and then if clothes need to be removed or adjusted to expose an area then it's done so in the video by the ler. A little role playing can be nice too. Not necessarily anything elaborate, it could just be a day in the life type thing, that turns into tickling, but it's just gotten kinda boring watching models tickle model in a underwear 24/7. I mean, don't get me wrong, that can be great, but it just gets kinda meh and expected after a while. I will say that I like the that techniques and ticklish areas are more explored now than before. It used to be hard to find a video that wasn't of just plain foot tickling, now there electric tooth brushes, feathers, pens, spurs, and brushes and all kinds of instruments being used regularly and on many places of the body.

From the few things I have seen, I would agree with you Lazombo. I understand they will pull in a wider audience with that set up cause sex does indeed sell, but you'd think there would be a company covering the niche market of down to earth girl next door types.

I must admit I am not all too sure of the site, but it'd be cool if they did do that. Also I gotta ask, my friend showed me a clip the other day and what's the deal with some of the male lers wearing ridiculous masks during a session. If I was being tickled by someone in that I think I might laugh more at the mask than the act of tickling.

I know like nothing about videos, I've never bought one, but I assume it's:

1. Because they don't want to be identifiable

2. You get some people freaking out at seeing a person of the undesired gender in the clip, even if they aren't the focus. The knowledge that a man, in this case, is there is a bit of a mood killer I suppose.

3. It's like an intimidation thing. Like they're supposed to be SCARY MYSTERY TORTURE MAN. I dunno if that actually works on anyone, but eh. People like professional wrestling.

And technology wise, I guess it could help make videos better, yeah, but then you might also get overproduced stuff with lens flares and "360 TICKLING WHOA" hypertext with Skrillex in the background. Like those Farmer Simulator videos.

You were spot on also about this media. One thing I'd like to add. Quantity is better and quality is still around and I believe more quality products get produced today. However, in the past, during the VHS era producers employed more fantasy where today's tickling videos are more industrialised. With a good video the tickling is there, the reactions are still real but the setting remains the same (a studio).
Reason of this is of course money (lower the budget, the model is the most expensive, no need to raise the price some more), but also concurrence has become harsher today I believe.

I also believe there's more quality today, but still among my very favourite videos are older videos. The kind of quality they had in the past was of a different kind that is rare today. That is also true for regular vanilla porn, by the way.

In the past porn movies often used to have a storyline and that also includes tickling videos. Cheesy as the story might have been, it sure spiced up things. One aspect I miss from time to time.

I have noticed that most of my favorite tickling videos are from around 2002-2004, before clips4sale came onto the scene and saturated the market.

We need sleazy 1970s porno artists to produce and direct. They took some pride in their product, creating entire genres of porno.

Now it's "show fucking" or "show tickling" or whatever the thing is in the porno.

Jesus.

I actually think the media quality has gone up, however, core product quality has actualy gone down. You've got some producers now who feel the need to interject really raunchy stuff just to try to get their videos to sell when its really just overcompensating for a lack of a good core product. This is a TICKLE forum.... after all.
