I really do NOT wish to get on anyone's bad side, but I have really had the feeling lately like you guys are discouraging us from coming here. Posting and sharing our opinions in the past was warmly welcomed, and now I feel as if you are trying to keep people out.

Why the sudden change?

What is it exactly that we are doing wrong?

I DO NOT wish to break rules, but this forum in my opinion is a place to come and share your ideas on whatever and however you wish.

This place in the past has always welcomed with open arms all people in all ways possible and now I feel we are making a step towards hindering them.

I do not attempt in this thread to put down you guys, because you do incredible work here for the TMF. However, I do feel that this negativity and threatning of "moderator action" on us if we "break rules" is getting evasive.

I think we come here to get away from the problems of life... not get into more!!!

We enforce the rules clearly laid down. That's all we do. What exactly makes you feel unwelcome? What Moderator actions do you feel pose a problem?

I think it has something to do with "The Clean Tickling Act" of 2001.
Sub Paragraph 5 Section 23.
"Say what you mean and feel, Mean what you say, so long as it does not get personal, vulgar, abusive, intrusive, obtrusive, degrading, defamatory,insulting or "personal".

It's just the idea of the "threats for future action" that go along with the past few threads brought back from the dead.

Just my opinion.

I don't mean to cause a ruckus!

I personally can do without more work. Those old threads cause us more work. I'm lazy, so I don't like them. There're probably a lot more good reasons to dislike looking at threads that were declared officially dead more than a year ago suddenly popping up at the top of the forum with the only new addition being a benign Whoopie-post, but I'm not up to think about such complicated matter - too lazy for that.

As for the "threats for future action" you mentioned - well, even us mods get cranky some times. And we no likey being cranky. If at times one of us comes across a little harsh (and I do that quite often, I'm afraid), it's always for a good reason, but that reason isn't always clearly deductable from the issue at hand. While all you see is a cranky reply in some random thread, behind the scenes the droppings hit the windmill quite often.

Anyhoo, all complaints go to Myriads. He then disciplines us roughly with a nice little drawing and quartering, and we love him for it. 🙂

Oh, and calling me "Maurader" kinda makes my hackles rise. Heh. It's almost as bad as "Mara".

Marauder's right. It's a lot more work for us to sift through year-old stuff on top of dealing with the day-to-day runnings of the place. Venray said it best in another thread regarding post drudging. There are some threads where something like that could be relevant. There are a lot where it isn't. We ask you to use your better judgement.

As for "threats of future action", I think that's a little out of context. We don't go out of our way to find people to spank. The more the community polices itself, the less we have to intervene. Yes, it's hard sometimes for you guys to wonder if such-and-such a thread is going to bring the hammer down, but more often than not, we let things go. We are just asking for discretion and good judgement.

All in all, things are running pretty smoothly, as everyone is getting a better feel for how things should run. It's a valid point you bring up, FT...I can see where there are times when things may seem a bit arbitrary, but I assure you that they're not. Our main (really only) goal is to maintain a semblance of order and make this a nice place for folks to hang out. Yes, we reserve the right to change things accordingly if the need arises, and maybe that's the context of the "future action" line. But things like that don't happen overnight and never without much discussion on our part.

As for keeping people away, that has never been our intent. I for one don't want to see this place having so many rules that one can't breathe...and that's where you guys come in. Discretion. Common sense. Respect for each other. That's what this community is really about, isn't it?

I believe the action that was being discussed at the time of the post was locking older threads that had no chance of regaining relevance, especially those dealing with taking time off or individuals personal problems. Much ado about nothing. Move on folks...nothing to see here. Q

I never meant to critisize the decisions and actions you've been making, but merely to question what they meant!

So... A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU GUYS FOR YOU HARD WORK TO MAKE THIS PLACE LIKE A SECOND HOME TO MANY OF US!!!
