In the first week of January, Ross was finally allowed to go back into the physical office.
He got dressed on his first day back in a grey suit, grey tie, and sporting a cane.
"Feeling weak?" Kayley asked.
"Slightly, and as fashion too"
"Please take it easy, no billion dollar deals the first day back" Kayley. appealed
"Will you please stop it with the take it easy, KA. That is all I have been doing for the past month" Ross said, seriously.
"Okay, seriously, I know you are thrilled to go back, have fun" Kayley said.
"You too" Ross said to Kayley, who herself would have 25 screaming students in her ear for several hours.
When Ross got to the office, he flung the door open" Okay, the boss is here, everyone back to work" Ross said in mock anger.
"You look great, Ross"
Ross's assistant said
"I feel better" Ross replied
"Ross, Steve and Fritz called on the office line twice, they said they have something important to talk to you about" Ross's assistant said.
"Okay, please get one of them on the office line, then we will give them three way.
"Ross. Fritz on line 1." Ross's assistant said.
"Good morning, Mister P , how can I help you this fine day, Sir?" Ross asked.
"You should ask how Steve and me can help you , sir. Someone offered us all a sweet little shopping mall to build, it will cost us each one million big ones, not at once of course, when we sell her, it will come back to us all 50 to 100 fold each" Fritz said.
"Whoa" Ross said,.
"What is Whoa? , the million or the 100 million ?" Fritz asked Ross.
"Both" Ross said
"Do you think you can get it?" Fritz asked Ross.
"For something that good, I will sell my ass to figure it out. How long do I have to come up with it?" Ross asked.
"We can probably take quarter million payments each quearterly, starting in three months"Fritz said.
"I can sell some small deals and companies, and maybe finance some of it. Trust me, I will figure it out" Ross said.
That day, Ross signed off on the small deals he had bought and made money on while he was in the hospital.
He also did a lot of thinking.
"Victor, how the hell are we going to come up with one million by the end of twelve months? You're the financial expert in this place not me, I just own the damn place" Ross said.
"Let me think about it and do some figuring out" Vic said.
"Good, oh, and by the way, great job of watching things, one month bonus to you for keeping everything together while I was sick. You know how much I value our relationship, and what you do here. Also. 25% salary increase now, then we discuss further increases" Ross said.
"Thank You, Sir" Vic said.
When Ross left the office at exactly 5pm, he took a copy of the deal home with him. "Good night, Vic., We need to try to figure it out. This time "I'm not going to hide it from Kayley. Im half asking thinking of asking her if I sell or borrow from RK mini to get some of the money, but I will figure it out" Ross said,.
"Good night, Ross, I know we will come up with something"
After Ross stopped to buy Kayley flowers, he went home.
"For you. let me get undressed" Ross said.
"Thank you, Sir. You;'re home early, I was not expecting you til midnight" Kayley said. kissing Ross.
"I'm tired, I'jm not going to work 12 hour days, the doctor said gradually. Let me get undressed, drink something, then I want to talk to you about something" Ross said.
Ross undressed. got an iced tea, sat at the table, and sighed.
"First day back, what happened,. what company went bad?" Kayley said.
"Nothing went bad, honey, I was offered something too good to pass up, but I need a lot of money, but the return will be a bang" Ross said.
"Bottom line, how much will you have to lay out? "Kayley said.
"One million dollars, cash, but not all at once, I need $250,000 each quarter. I have to try to see how to get it" Ross said.
"Do you want to sell all the assets of RK Mini to get it? That is okay. I can forgo my check, and we will figure out what we live on
" Kayley said.
Ross kissed Kayley. "Thanks, Babe. That means a lot to me
Ross said.
"See how easy I can be when you tell me the truth" Kayley said.
"The problem is.. "Ross began.
"We dont have enough money to finance the deal even with that" Kayley finished.
"I'm going to get rid of every piece of shit company Ross Shell has that everyone has been yelling at me about, even for a small loss each, I cant pass on this, or Fritz and Steve will do it alone, and we will be very very sorry. We will survive of course, we always will, but I will regret it business wise for the rest of my life" Ross said.
That night, Ross and Kayley made love, and everything seemed fine, but Ross was restless, awakened, and of course could not go back to sleep
He heard Kayley's footsteps at 230 am.
"I just caught you with another woman! Worse!" Kayley snapped.
"What the hell are you talking about Kale? Please go back to sleep"
Ross said.
"Not until I take you with me. I dont want you to get sick again due to this deal. You said we will figure out, so okay we will figure it out" Kayley said.
"I feel.. poor, Kayley" Ross said.
Kayley snickered. "Anyone who heard you say that and saw how much money we have personally would commit you to a mental hospital" Kayley said.
"I want this deal, Kayley. I need it, for a few reasons. We both know it is not about the money. It is to fully heal the wounds of the George situation, and if I do this deal, I can then tell Reese and White to go fuck themselves" Ross said.
"Will you actually do that" Kayley said.
Ross nodded his head. After my health scare, those morons are more trouble than they are worth. " Ross said.
"Bed, Boss. Go in tomorrow whatever time you get up, no alarm. You cant work hard on this deal if you get sick again" Kayley said.
"Yes, teacher"
Ross said.
Ross got into bed, he tried to sleep, but could not.
He wanted the deal, more than anything, but how.. how could he finance the money?
