A friend recently sent this to me.....

Quote:

"IMO there are only 3 legitimate reasons to wear a cap backward:"

1. If you're catching - won't fit inside mask any other way.

2. If you're welding - won't fit inside hood any other way, and as a bonus, the bill keeps sparks off your neck when welding overhead.

3. If you're shooting a bow - otherwise the string will knock it right off your head (Robin Hood hats are the shape they are for a good reason!)

Right on!

And tattoos suck too. The only people who ought to have tattoos are sailors, circus performers and felons.

..and let's not even TALK about piercings.......🙄

I totally agree, Ray and Strel, what's even worse than the backward hat is the "sideways" hat. I have no problem with tattoo's(almost got one myself once, then decided, why waste perfectly good beer money?)
Now tattoo's....or "tats"....are mandatory hip, you're nothing unless you got that Goldberg barbwire around your bicep. And piercings? I've got enough holes in my head and all the required holes in my body, don't need any painful extras just so I can look cool to friends until I reach a point where I say "is this gonna grow over soon?"

I had a friend once tell me that if you wear a cap in a public building it meant that you were carrying a concealed weapon; I dont know where he got his info. from

A backwards hat can also keep the sun of your neck, mind you then you'd have to wear two.

Sides ways hat? No ones done that since the final episode of the Fresh Prince.

Oh, you'd be surprised. Just walk into a high school and see the horrors from the darkest depths of reality. *Shudders*:shake: :shake: :shake: :shake:

Yeah, it is atrochious what you can get in schools these days... being in yr12 last year was hilarious for me. For example.. the yr9s once had some sort of "LETS DRESS UP AS IF WE ARE GOING TO AN INTERVIEW" day. Dunno what made the teachers think that anything but a small minority of those kids would have jobs... but the results were promising. The guys all turned up in suits... looking smart is smart for an interview.... the girls... well I guess either the girls never intended to recieve a job on merit... either that or they wanted to all be street workers...

Either way, I'm at uni now... and the closest we get to any of that is one of my friends that has a Treble Clef tattoo-ed to the small of her back.... The Rebel 😛

I think my HS was run by Nazi's, if you tried to do anything against the rules (or dress code) no one would miss the chance to yell at you

Well, if the teachers go "Heil Mein Fuhrer," when the principal goes by, it's usually a bad sign.

There's a type of cap called a "deerstalker" that has ear flaps that can be tied up over the top, plus a bill fore and aft. Sherlock Holmes is usually shown wearing one. Don't know where you'll find one these days other than a movie prop room though.

Piercings and tats - I have a 24 yr old niece who says that she shows her individuality by not having either - unlike most of her sheep-like peers. People my age who got tats years ago (usually in the Armed Forces, while drunk) say they're a lifelong reminder of what an asshole they were at age 19.

I think if you wear your hat backwards, you should follow the other trend of wearing your pants backwards, then I think you should learn to walk backwards so at least you will be consistent.😀

I saw something even stupider in a bar last night. This redneck moron was wearing two hats. One was a comoflage design that he was wearing backwards, the other I think was a NASCAR hat that he wore over the camo hat.

planting tongue firmly in cheek.....

I generally don't mind hats, tats or piercings...as long as they aren't over done and in your face. The key for me is moderation. The things I DO mind are...

- Wearing a hat backwords or sideways defeats the purpose of having it on at all. Wearing a hat indoors is a no-no in my book. Why do you need it indoors, anyway? Is it so cold that you're head will freeze? Shall I turn off the lights so they don't sunburn your head? Or would you just like a pair of sunglasses to keep it out of your eyes?

- I don't understand the idea of multiple facial (and tongue) piercings. These are probably a lot of the same folks who cried when they were yonger and got braces because everyone was going to see the metal in their face.

- Tats are a bit more complicated. Some are very artistic and well done. Others are cheap and look it. Either is fine with me if someone wants it. The thing I don't like are the "hate" themes. Do these people really want to walk around for the rest of their lives as a billboard for hatred or satanism?

Go figure!

It's possible that this was generalized from the observation that a caps bill conceals your eyes from security cameras. If you're in a bank, jewelry store, etc. to case the place, a cap would help to conceal your intentions. It also leaves less of the face visible to those same cameras when the place is hit.

Just a possibility.

*sigh* once again, the older folks have started an uprising😛 Personally, I wear my hat 'backwards' when I wear one. Why? well it keeps my hair from flying everywhere, and yes, I do have a longer neck, and it keeps it from being burned when I hike. Oh yeah, and also, it looks better that way because that is the way it is supposed to be!:couch:

YA DERN YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPERS, In MY day, we didn't have hats of anykind to wear. WE just wrapped a LIFE magazine cover around our heads.......and we were DERN GLAD to have them there covers!!!!!!

Hey, I may be young, but I have never had the desire to walk around with my pants two feet down my legs. Personally, I think it's the funniest thing when these so-called "cool" people trip over their own pants.😀 😀

Oh, and the people from the home are here for you.

HEY! Knock off the shenanagins or I'll...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

ok, Boss, and Ven,

Backwards hats. ROFL Sure, that's ok. It looks really great with that other popular accessory that teens took to over the last couple of years.....a pacifier. Yes, a pacifier intended for infants, hanging around the neck of a teenager on a brightly colored string. I saw it in several major cities over the last couple of years. Along with backpacks intended for pre-school children. You know the ones...with the stuffed animals attached. Blah!

I can dig what you're saying about the clothes as I think it's hilarious when my 5 year old kid says "that big kid's pants are falling down" or "he needs a belt." HOWEVER......I take exception with the tats.

I make my livlihood by the combination of color and form. In some cases, a tattoo is simply another work of art. It can be as representative of a person in the way their religion or profession might be. In my case, my two tats are symbolic to the time period of my life. Times almost 15 years ago before they were "cool." LOL Now, that being said though, if I see one more uhmmm...Taz...or Tweety Bird on a grown man's bicep I'm going to puke.

Oh and one more thing. I had a pierced tongue for about five years. Also before they were "cool." It was great. *sigh* Now, I just bear a scar from it. Ahhhh, memories.

Jo, older than she thought. 😛

I seem to recall there being a connection to extasy use with that one...something about oral fixation and drying out mucous membranes or something like that.

Wow, Ann, I've not heard of that one! Would explain alot though. I can't see anyone over the age of 2 sucking on a pacifier unless he was 'illuminated' with something beyond common sense. 🙄
