I think that the Dave Matthews Band doesnt get enough credit......Neither Did The Amazing Smashing Pumpkins.....Your Thoughts? 😎

Half right..lol

I agree that DMB is underated, but I think the Pumpkins have gotten more than they deserved already. Personally, I believe the Red Hot Chili Peppers are more innovative than some of the other bands in that genre that have gotten more "press"... Q

are you kidding??

DMB is THE band that is most likely to appeal to you, your mom, your dad, and your grandpa! .... everyone adores them!! how can they be underrated? even the critics like them... they have cover bands at every college campus in america who actually sell out clubs!

as for the chilli peppers, I also think they get a lot of respect.....

now a few bands that I feel are underrated.....the beatles, the doors, jimi hendrix, janis, .....🙂 kidding

actually, I would say that tool has yet to really get the fame they deserve, although this last album kinda changed that.....

I think Counting Crows are great, but underrappreciated, even considered one hit wonders by some....

thats all I can think of right now...

I agree, the Counting Crows are an excellent band, I have all of their albums and they are all grrrrrreat (tony the tiger impersonation). What about Tenacious D? They're the greatest and best band on earth! Where's the love?? Also, I think if Brad Nowell hadn't passed on, Sublime would be one of the best bands of today. Oh, and don't forget Hanson 😉 😉

I'm not really sure about today's music and appreciation, because I don't follow it religiously. But as for bands that should have been better-rated when they were together, I've always said that Y&T and Zebra were both highly underrated bands.

Zebra live was a real treat, that band could rock! They were one of the few power trios that really pulled it off live ala Rush. Y&T were simply hated by their own record company. Dave Meneketti had a great voice, and they didn't give in to too much of the glam shit in the '80s. (Ok..."Summertime Girls", but everyone at least tries for hit, right?)😎

There were a few bands that came out in the early 90s that were real good, although they could be regarded as retro. Listed next to them are who they sounded like:

Havana Black (Free, BTO, Bad Co.)
London Quireboys(Stones, Faces)
Masters of Reality(Cream)
The Four Horsemen(Ac-Dc, Lynyrd Skynyrd)

Well, Creed has had the #1 album in the US for 6 weeks(as I am writing this😛 ).....🙄 🙄

Loved this band since the mid 70's and still they do not get anywhere NEAR the credit they deserve.

Alan Parsons Project.

My farorite Artists/Band next to Pink Floyd.

For me and my era of music is was undoubtably Y&T (yesterday and today)...they had pretty good success on the west coast, but never really seemed to breakthrough on the east coast. I had the great pleasure of watching this band from the start then actually getting to open up for them. Dave Meniketti is a fantastic guitarist, and Leonard Hayes just smoked on the drums. As a matter of fact they just re-united again and will have a new album out soon from what I understand with the original line up!

I always kinda thought Dokken never got their due respect, but maybe that's because George Lynch and Don Dokken were always at each others throats...so maybe they never got the chance to reach full potential!!!

yeah scooby....SUBLIME would be one of the best bands out there,at least better than all that creed crap

actually, I disagree that if sublime was still around they would be bigger than they already are.... I think their best album was 40 oz, and the self titled was pretty good too, but I think fame would have ruined that kind of a band... they needed to stay a garage band.... just look at how No Doubt has turned into a bunch of dorks....

300....

Slappy, you used # 300 to tell us that No Doubt are dorks? Hmm...can't wait to see your #500...lol. Q

Well.................

I believe that the Dave mathew's band are a great band, but Smashing pumpkins is alright. In the world of rock, I believe 2-PAC rules over all, now theres a band who doesnt get enough credit. I feel sorry for the poor guy, them streets were rough, he had to toke it just to survive! Now, thats a real American!

I disagree. I think Brad Nowell was fucking brilliant. Gwen Stefani did some shit with Sublime a while back (the song "Saw Red") I think that 40 oz rocked, but my personal favorite was Robbin The Hood. Their music only got better with age, Santeria was brilliant. LBDAS is pretty good in their own right though.

Another easy one

The Nat King Cole trio BEFORE he started his singing career, (maybe the first evidence on planet earth that you can swing without drums)

I have always thought the Misfits never got enough credit. Yes the sing about some really evil shit, but hey they were a good punk band back when they debued. I beleive it was in 77. Romones and Sex Pistols(both good bands)kind of took all the limelight while the Misfits stayed more underground. They had the evil punk/50's Elvis kind of sound intertwined together for a real unique type of music. I personally think there music was best from 77-84 then they became more like heavymetal because the lead singer Glen Dazig left the band. They sound really slick ,JUST don't focus on all lyrics they probably will shock you. In fact you could say they were the premeir shock rockers.

ooooh, I got one.

Talking about crappy lyrics made me think of a band that I adore, but never really cared much for the words, just the overall sound.....

Skinny Puppy was one of the first bands to develop a really edgy goth/industrail sound, and many more popular bands like NIN, marylin manson, etc. were heavily influenced by the stuff they put out in the 80's. It was sonically way ahead of it's time. even if the lyrics are disjointed and make little sense, hey they were on heroine, give em a break!

A classic act....

What about The Dead Milkmen?.... Their name gets thrown around from coast to coast, yet most people who mention them can't remember any of their songs. Am I the only one who still has a vynil copy of BEELZEBUBBA?😀

I noticed Daddy agreed with me on Y&T, and I have to tell you he's right about Leonard Haze on drums. He had the fastest foot in rock. Some of the stuff I swore was double-bass was just Leonard pounding it out with one foot on a single kick. I found this out seeing them live.

But...any other Zebra fans here?🙄
