This thread is just to ask a question, and is not that "personal", etc, so I'm asking that it please not turn into a blow up thread, etc.

As everyone who has read my posts, or seen my signature knows, I watch WPVI TV and Jim Gardner online most every night, and I sometimes tune into PVI's morning news as well, as I guess I'm just used to them after living in PA for so many years.

Tonight, when I went to open up the WPVI live news stream for Gardner's 11pm newscast, there was a banner across the top which said "Watch WABC TV 7 (The ABC New York station) online. " In the year plus since I've moved to NY, and that I've had to watch Gardner online instead of on TV as I used to in PA, this is the first time I've seen such a banner.

So, the banner made me wonder: It isn't like.. Time Warner or AOL can see that I'm watching this out of town newscast online every night, right? I pay my cable and internet bill to Time Warner/AOL every month, so I should be able to go anywhere I want, as long as I'm not doing anything illegal, right?

During Gardner's 11pm newscast, when I went to check the banner at the top again, for a while it was saying Watch WABC TV online. Then, for some reason, it changed, and said "Watch ABC online", and had the WPVI 6 logo next to it.

Truly weird.

Thoughts on this?
