ahh that wonderful brave horse has had a setback and may be put to sleep as soon as today. i guess he has won the hearts of many around the country, there is a website with prayers going out to him every second. he stood on his left foot too much, which caused an inflammation. the doctors are pulling for him, but his chances are slim..i will never watch another horse race ever.. he won the kentucky derby, in case anyone had forgotten and was the favorite going into the preakness. i knew something would happen after he broke through the starting gate before the race began. but the horse's ears were up and he was alert and bright yesterday... seems a shame to have to kill such a beautiful animal.

Espn had reported this yesterday afternoon. I think it is called Flambitis or something close to that. It is what caused the GREATEST RACEHORSE EVER to be euthanized....Secretariat

It is a tragedy to see any animal be in pain and ultimately put down let alone a champion.

i didn't realize secretariat had to be put down..what a tragedy, such a fine horse..

Its lamenitis, and he still has a chance but slim, if not for the leg, nobody would know he has this condition
