Anyone in here a baseball fan and following the latest development? Specifically, the All-Star Game and strike threats? I personally feel that Selig, whom I do hate, deserves no blame at all for the All-Star Game at least. Both teams were out of pitchers! What else was he (or anyone) supposed to do? I guarantee the Mariners and other team (can't remember which) would have been furious if Brenly and Torre had sent their ace pitchers back injured because of an exhibition game! No one seems to agree with me on this. As far as the strike, if they follow through, I'm out. I am a HUGE baseball fan (specifically Astros), but all I will be doing is encouraging them. I'm out for good if they strike.

I personally think the other sports should follow the NFL and put their all-star games on after the season ends. This would make for more accurate player ratings and prevent players from returning to regular season duties injured.

As for a strike,it's hard to empathize with someone who makes,in one year, more than the vast majority of us do in a lifetime. But then again, people tend not to unionize just for the status of carrying a union card around.

This is the 2nd time that the all-star game ended this way.Since it has happened again, the league had best prevent it in the future.Selig had only one incident, and no past precedent,to use as a base for a decision.Between a rock and a hard place,I would give him the benefit of the doubt.

i'm through with baseball already

i'm sickened by the greed. grown men playing a kids game, and they complain that they aren't payed enough!
at this point i can't even afford to take my family to the games! the ticket costs, the food costs, the parking costs. it's gotten out of hand! to hell with them! let them have to work for a living, and make the kind of money the rest of us do!
nothing but greedy selfish jerks.

if they go on strike again, i think baseball will die. it doesnt do the owners or players any favors when they do dumb crap like strike. baseball has already been replaced as America's pastime by NBA and NFL, now the NHL is in striking range. for crying out loud, why are they striking again. more money? avoid steroid testing? it really is sick. it's a damn shame because the Dodgers are doing well, and even the Red Sox has a chance of winning a pennant. the curse of the Bambino will prevail if they strike.

I agree with Jorus, the all-star game is just an exhibition and was rightfully called when both teams ran out of pitchers. Most people, however, don't agree with us. And while I agree a strike would be devestating, baseball has other issues to deal with that are just as important, IMHO, like steroids and competetive balance.

I was wondering if we have enough baseball fans in this community to form a fantasy league. It may be too late this year, but could be something to think about for next year.
