What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Or - if people are willing to get hypothetical - what advice would you give to your younger self, if it were possible?

And I should say, any replies along the lines of, “I don’t care for advice, cos I think people should discover things for themselves”, while being a perfectly reasonable view, in my opinion, will nevertheless be greeted by boos and hisses lol. Just so you know! 😀

My dad always told me that, in regards to relationships, if nothing else, I should choose to be with a woman I can laugh with. She can be pretty, she can be smart, she can be good in the sack, whatever. Those are superfluous. The important thing is that she be someone who can make me laugh, and who I can make laugh right back.

Little did he know, at the time, just how many ways I could conceive of to take that advice... ;D
