Growing up, we always had the old "Firestone' Christmas albums playing all December, so Christmas music has always been one of my favorites. I was wondering what everyone's favorite album(s) are. My top three:

"We wish you a Merry Christmas"- Ray Conniff (yeah, the king of easy listening but it is a timeless masterpiece, IMHO, esp. their version of "The Little Drummer Boy")

"An Evening In December"- First Call (and friends), a contemporary Christian group. The title song reminds me so much of Christmas growing up and there updated version of "The 12 Days of Christmas" is outstanding

the other is an album recorded (I don;t know the title) by Jackie Gleason and the Jackie Gleason Orchestra. Few know that 'The Great One" wrote or arranged most of the music for his shows, including "The Honeymooners." These are Christmas songs and carols that he arranged and it is fabulous! I wish I could snatch it so I could record it to a CD!

I can think of others as well, but tell us what YOUR favorite Christmas album(s) is....

Burl Ives, the Vienna Boys Choir, and Pavarotti are the ones I listen two on the 25th. No specific album, just their Christmas stuff.

Ahh yes...guilty pleasure. I love Christmas music. Can't say I have a particular album I enjoy. Actually I don't OWN any specifically Christmassy albums. But as far as department-store music or singing-in-the-shower music or singing-in-church music I love Christmas songs. No..I'm not a churchy or anything but there's something I really enjoy about sining Christmassy songs with a bunch of people in a big echoey church.

Anyway...the actual question. Right. You can't go wrong with your standard Bing Crosby. Also those HDS mentioned of course. Anything where it's not some dipshit singer with a huge ego who has to warble and change the tune (or the words) around cause they're just too good to sing it right. God I hate that. This is why I cringe when they sing the national anthem before a baseball game. Those damn people can never just SING THE DAMN SONG.
Sorry. Tangent.

Am I the only person though who thinks that useless bit of fluff, Jessica Simpson, shouldn't have realeased a Christmas album? Ive been seeing ads for it like every 10 minutes and I haven't heard anything in my life as bland, lifeless, and...well...fluffy.

I agree. Although as a vocalist, I realize that it IS a very hard song to do (crosses three octaves). But the way people slaughter it they should be tried for treason. Especially the time Robert Goulet (a singer I normally enjoy) FORGOT THE WORDS as he sang it before a big boxing card.

I tend to agree. A good vocal Christmas album takes the right heart and attitude. Very hard to get in today's "Made for MTV" style of singers. My guess would be that Ms. Simpson would be a good candidate with her faith-based background. I haven't seen any ads. Been to busy either listening to my Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CD's or 'helping' my son play Madden 2005 on our PC....😉

the hollywood brother is getting tired of holidaym usic because it too overplayed. the hollywood brother like adam sandler holiday song because you hardly hear it and he refreshes it sometimes. How many times can the hollywood brother hear the same rotation of songs. The hollywood brother do not care if mellencamp, bruce springsteen, u2, jessica simpson, ashley simpson, or who is singing them but can't some hollywood brother style rock and roller write something new for all the millions and millions of hollywood brother rock and roll tickle king fans

Hollywood, I *love* that Adam Sandler hanukkah song!!!

Intro: this is a song, that uh, theres alot of xmas songs out there, but not
Too many about hanukkah, so I wrote a song for all those nice little jewish
Kids who don’t get to hear any hanukkah songs--here we go...

Put on your yalmulka, here comes hanukkah
Its so much fun-akkah to celebrate hanukkah,

Hanukkah is the festival of lights,
Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights.

When you feel like the only kid in town without a x-mas tree, heres a list of
People who are jewish, just like you and me:

David lee roth lights the menorrah,
So do james caan, kirk douglas, and the late dinah shore-ah

Guess who eats together at the karnickey deli,
Bowzer from sha-na-na, and arthur fonzerrelli.

Paul newmans half jewish; goldie hawns half too,
Put them together--what a fine lookin’ jew!

You don’t need deck the halls or jingle bell rock
Cause you can spin the dreidl with captain kirk and mr. spock--both jewish!

Put on your yalmulka, it’s time for hanukkah,
The owner of the seattle super sonic-ahs celebrates hanukkah.

O.j. simpson-- not a jew!
But guess who is...hall of famer¡ºrod carew--(he converted!)

We got ann landers and her sister dear abby,
Harrison fords a quarter jewish--not too shabby!

Some people think that ebeneezer scrooge is,
Well, he’s not, but guess who is:all three stooges.

So many jews are in show biz--
Tom cruise isn¹t, but I heard his agent is.

Tell your friend veronica, it’s time you celebrate hanukkah
I hope I get a harmonica, on this lovely, lovely hanukkah.

So drink your gin-and-tonic-ah, and smoke your mara-juanic-ah,
If you really, really wanna-kah, have a happy, happy, happy, happy
Hanukkah!

I have a wonderful CD of Christmas music recorded by Motown stars such as Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, Diana Ross & The Supremes, and The Jackson Five, who didn't let the fact that they were Jehovah's Witnesses stop them from singing Christmas songs. I guess their Dad figured that a buck is a buck. All of these songs are from the 60s and 70s. The CD is called "A Motown Christmas" and I highly recommend it, especially for Stevie Wonder's version of "Ave Maria".

My vote goes for Bing Crosby. I grew up listening to his Christmas album. I've still got it, too.
