From the website orioleshangout.com, which I occasionally visit given my lifelong fandom of the Baltimore Orioles. Just had to show you what this guy had to share. He makes a good point for being 9 beers deep! I find it amusing, anyway.
So, I'm sitting here thinkin about the Orioles and Michael Phelps cause he's about to race (not related, I'm just stoked to see him go for his third Gold) and I thought about how the Orioles are a lot like this girl I used to be into in high school. By the way I'm like 9 beers deep (and my typing is only as good as it is cause I have practiced numerous times trying to get girls to come over to my apartment around 3 a.m. after a long night at Cornerstone or Sante Fe- for the record I was a UMD student.)
Anyway. I think of the Orioles as that hot girl in high school. The beautiful one who's hilarious, sweet, not stuck up at all, just everything you could want in a girl. She's perfect and you fall in love, and she loves you back. Life is good. You're dating, and you realize, she's the girl for you, for life.
But then she starts getting hideous and eating and gaining weight and its all a gradual chanege (think 1998 through 2000) and before you know it she's 20 pounds heavy and you're thinking "what the hell is going on" but you still love here cause she's everything you still want and you know deep down she's the one for you.
As the years continue she continues to gain weight and becomes mean and for a while you wonder what you saw in her. And you run into those other girls from high school, the ones that were cute but never did it for you, the stuck up rich ***** (the Yankees) who was gorgeous but always thought she was too good for you. And the Red Sox, who were the ugly duckling for year's until she grew DD's and lost the glasses and all of a sudden she's the one everyone is talking about but you know better because you already got your girl. Even tho she's treating you like garbage
Well now I feel like the Orioles have finally hit the treadmill. They've decided that enough is enough, and even tho it seems like they haven't cared at all about me now they're proving their love slowly but surely. While they may not be beauty queen material yet I have faith that in the next few years they will become the Cindy Crawford that we've been craving for. I'm very excited. It's going to take some time, but the Orioles have finally bought the membership to Golds and are going under the knife to make themselves beautiful for the fans who deserve it. And Andy MacPhail is the chief surgeon.
