I'm torn between Karen from Coronation St
and Shellsuit Boab from River City
. Both, in their way, cultural icons who will be studied by anthropologists of the future.
But in vast realm of crazy which is the US soap genre, it must be Stefano Dimera from Days of our Lives. The non-specific 'European' persona is always a winner, and I still fondly remember the few weeks back in the 90's when he kidnapped Marlena and held her prisoner in a golden birdcage in a secret candlelit room somewhere in the sewer system of Paris, staffed by an army of seemingly brainwashed dwarves. I never understood if she had an endless supply of ethereal white nightdresses, or if she wore the same one for ages.
