Best Guitar Albums?

Man! Pete, you're bringing back memories for me with the mentioning of these bands!! Friggin King Kobra...Christ! I listened to that tape so much I almost knew the numbers on the tape counter by heart, lol.

A lot of good guitarists and albums mentioned here from others as well. Too many to mention. Eric Johnson was another fav of mine who never really got any attention, or at least as much as he deserved. I think the album that floored me, as far as guitarists go, would have to be Van Halen. The first time Eruption came on, holy cow!

Jimmy Page will always be my all time fav tho. :bowing:

All the guitarists mentioned should be applauded for the feelings
and memories embedded in our hearts and minds.

To hear Alvin Lee at his true best, check out "Stonedhenge" or the 2nd Ten Years After cd "Undead", Sole.
Alvin was very jazzy-sounding at this point of his career.

Id say for rock music almost everything from Pink Floyd (David Gilmore), later Rolling Stones stuff (76 - 85 era) w/ Keith Richards, Brian May "Star Fleet Project" LP which is very very rare and was a wild jam session that included Eddie Van Halen with May on guitar solos and of corse Eric Clapton up till he needed his rocking chair in the early 90s. For Jazz, can't say anything accept George Benson with his smooth soulful, funky and disco grooves.

An (embarrassing) afterthought.....

Mark Knopfler - Brothers in Arms & the albums he did with the gentleman below...

Chet Atkins - Pretty much anything (the personification of class & dignity)

I second Chet Atkins (on anything)

Yes,,,, YesSongs

Eric Clapton with Dwayne Allman (i.e., Derik [sp?] and the Dominoes)

I do beleive I forgot the great Roy Buchanan

His first couple records are awesome:

"Buch and the Snakestretchers"
"Second Album"
"That's What I'm Here For"

and later on on the Alligator label:

"Hot Wires"
