Best kind of feathers?

I've tried to look for previous threads concerning this but the ones I could find only seemed to discuss whether they work or not. So if there is another thread on this I apologise in advance.

I want to explore with feathers more (as a lee and a ler) and I'm just trying to figure out which would be the best kind of feathers to get. Ostrich feathers look good and maybe a pheasant feather.
I know it will depend on the lee and their sensitivity but I'm after a sturdy feather that is quite soft. Has anyone got any suggestions or experience of different kind of feathers?

I'm guessing it's gonna be trial and error but figured this would be a good place to start.

Sturdy and soft? Those are difficult to put together but if your looking for softness then I'd recommend ostrich. If you ever have, like, $500.00 to $750.00 to burn (unlikely I know) I'd highly recommend getting a 24 to 30 ply ostrich feather boa as a tickle tool (if of course your sensitive enough to giggle from hundreds of ostrich feathers fluffing against you). It super sucks that boas have become so expensive but I guess it's due to the rise of Burlesque again here in the US.

When I say sturdy I mean that isn't gonna wilt after one use kinda thing. That's great thank you so much for your suggestions. The cheaper alternative is an ostrich feather duster so could give that a go.

Oooo...those work SPLENDIDLY on me. Also static dusters as well. ^_^

I know they're technically not feathers, but Lambswool Dusters feel fantastic on the skin. They're soft and great for making sensitive soles tingle, or so I've heard.

...no, Ninja. Your kunai knives, while looking a bit like pointy metallic feathers, aren't that well suited for tickling. *hauls him over to a gurney and wheels him off* Clean up on aisle five!

Anyone know where I could purchase a high ply ostrich boa? I've tried googling for places, but highest I can seem to find is 10 ply

Feathers depend on what kind if sensation you want....short and ultra soft creates a very ticklish reaction, while stronger feathers work for a more concentrated area...use them in place of a pen, for example.

It may sound like a crazy indulgence, but my hubby and I have really taken to enjoying the "official" Fifty Shades of Gray" feather duster...it really tickles more than just about anything, comes in a deep purple color with a short metal handle and is very small, so it travels well, too. We found it in a high end sex shop.

Also, if you are open to experimenting with things that tickle other than feathers, my hubby and I have also found that high quality paint brushes from an art store work quite well too! Especially the camel hair ones... :blush

My own preference is to have a whole range of feathers, to suit all needs, depending on what the requirement is at the specific time.
That way you are never caught out and have a variety of choice.
For a starting point just google, go on ebay or use amazon.
Some of the soft small feathers may be made up into a duster, improvise and try different things, build up a set over time.
Paint and make up brushes of all sizes and types can be a very good idea.
I once had a widow frame brush for painting around small glass areas, a handle about 12" long the brush part was angled at 45 deg and about half inch long, firm but not too firm, ideal for getting into fleshy folds.

I read all three books and the feather duster bit i missed, the series was a let down, in the BDSM sense, over hyped i guessed, but a good read, looking forward to the film, i bet someone raised a thread here about it.
Good luck with that duster madam.🙂

Thanks everyone. I've bought am ostrich feather duster, a lambswool feather duster and some ostrich feathers. Hoping to try them out soon 🙂

Is a lambswool feather duster not an oxymoron? Or are they genetically engineering ostrich/sheep hybrids?

Seriously though, in general are fluffy style feathers any good? In a group, like a duster, I guess they make up for any overly light touch by having a greater number to make contact. But on their own are they too light to create much of a sensation.

Trust you to be so picky. It's a duster made out of lambswool.

sometimes single feathers can be effective just depends on how sensitive an area is I.e toes are a good spot on the feet to use feathers on either around or in between them. 🙂

It's a full collection of toys and such they've made. Here's a video on the duster though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tUIujw0HeU Actually didn't think it would tickle very much, but it's good to hear from others who've tried it. 🙂
