First of all, greetings to everyone since this is my first post here... and congratulations to who deserve them because this site is exactly what I was looking for.

Now, my question: which is the best application to view video clips?
Is there one that supports every format? Because I have tried to download some clips around, but I can't see them...

Thank you.

solo, since this is your first post you wont get flamed, but please post questions in the general discussion forum. this forum is for links and video clips only.

The moderators will decide if it's off-topic or not, and move it if it is. It looks pretty relevent to me.

Agreed, Jeff.

I'd point to both RealPlayer and Windows Media Player (For windows systems, obviously) as good apps. Both can pretty much play every format. Real Player is my personal preference.

wait a second....a forum that is for posting of audio and video clips is the appropriate forum to ask a question? i think not, every other question that ahs ever been posted here without a clip attached or associated has been moved. this just wasnt moved because i questioned it.

i quote from Haltickling's sticky post right at the top of this forum:
Please note that this section is exclusively for clips and links to clips.

sounds cut and dried to me...

Maybe it's my computer, or my crap OS (Win ME), but I've noticed that Realplayer will sometimes cut off a portion at the beginning and end of a mpeg clip... Anyone else notice this, or am I nuts?

Say, where in your profile is that elusive "dtrell - TMF Official Spokesman" hiding? Stop being contrary just for the sake of an argument. The OWNER of the TMF just told you that you're not the one calling the shots. A Moderator (me) jumped in to say the same. Now suddenly a lone User gets to decide that we only did this to piss him off? Get a grip, lose the paranoid megalomania routine and go back to browsing the free content we're offering. Thanks.

I never noticed any problems with RealPlayer myself. It really might be OS troubles. Have you considered upgrading to WinXP (shudder) or Win2k?

well dtrell the main reason why all those posts without clips are deleated is because they are annoying as heck

they have subject lines like "awesome never before seen clips" and then the message will be: can someone post some awesome clips that we havent seen

there is a big difference in a request being in the wrong forum and a question being in the right forum

this is a question not a request and it is a question about clips and playing them and this is the clip forum

also unlike most requests in here you could tell by reading the subject line that there were no clips

the post belongs dude

Maybe Win2k. My brother has XP, and it's just horrid.

RealPlayer gives me other odd troubles, too. For example, if I just double-click a .rm file to open it, RP opens up... but then freezes. I have to open RP first, and then open the file through it. It has done this since the first time I upgragded it, and persists even when I reinstall it (which I've done about 5 times).

It's not THAT big of a deal... But it sure is annoying! 😛

It seems I have started two discussions at once...

Well, I posted here since I thought it was a clip-related question, as has been already guessed. If I'm wrong, you can guess too there wasn't malice in me.

About Windows Media Player, it just won't play the ram or rm files. Is it just a matter of version/update? I'm on W2k.

Solosoloni, your question was valid.

Windows MP can indeed play .rm files. You'll need to download the newest version from microsoft, though.

And Asutickler, have you downloaded the most current RealPlayer? It might fix the problems.

And WinXP is horrible, yes.

Just looked at the real.com website.

RealPlayer is now RealOne.

RealOne has a 14-Day trial.

I could not find a freeware RealPlayer.

I lose ?

You don't lose, they just hide the free one really really well.

Go to www.real.com

Look in the bottom right-hand corner of the page, for the little icon that says "Realplayer Free." Click it.

You will be linked to another page asking you to buy the $19.95 Realone player. This is bogus. Look in the bottom right corner of this page (again), for the link that says "Download the Free RealOne Player Only." Click it. Your free Realplayer should start downloading automatically. 🙂
