As I post this.. a big front page headline is on

www.wpvi.com.

Bill Cosby was arrested today, and charged with sexual assault.

Cosby then posted $1 million bail, and is now free, but was ordered to surrender his passport.

These allegations against Cosby are becoming more troubling.

Supposedly, attorney Gloria Allred, is representing twenty nine women, in suits which claim that Cosby raped them.

My personal feeling.

I had always believed Cosby is/was guilty of something.

The question is.. to what magnitude are/were the claims true.

Did he engage in all the acts he is alleged to have committed, or some of them?

Cosby is in big trouble.

Now the question is, at his age, and in his physical condition, will the prosecutors be able to gain convictions against him, and will be actually spend any time in prison for these acts?

Thoughts on this?

Well, we all kinda figured it would happen. As for getting a conviction, despite his age and physical condition.... yes, it can happen. And he can be given prison time. Has happened before. But I don't think that's what these gals want....they want moola. I know that's what the lawyers want.

rdhd, I agree with you about the girls wanting. "moola", as you say.

As far.. as prison..

With the way the legal system drags on, and continuances, etc..

It would surprise me if Cosby actually spends time in jail.

He might just have to keep paying through the nose, and go for

"Counseling for his acts".

I've heard that TV stations have taken The Cosby Show re runs off the air, and that many of his income sources have ended their relationships with him.

Not that it matters to him, as the guy is worth half a billion bucks.

It will be interesting to see where this goes.

These are criminal charges, not civil, I don't think they can get financial damages, can they? Also, what lawyers? They didn't sue him, a prosecutor decided to press charges on behalf of the state.

True TMF, I didn't watch/read the link, or pay too much attention to the news reports. But, I did see one (and, no link....) that says the prosecutor is the D.A.-elect (and, I didn't totally read that one either)...kinda interesting. Maybe wants to make a name for himself right up front (if that story is true). At any rate, the prosecution is most likely gonna need testimony from someone..... and, are all those gals gonna want to do so, just to do so? I think not. At some point, they want "what's coming to them". I've been on this planet long enough to know that much. Whether it's right or wrong, well, I guess we'll have to see how it all plays out now.

Thoughts on this?[ More likely than not Cosby will spend the rest of his life in prison] Cos B.jpg

I predict that he will kill himself! 78 yrs old.... Doesn't look good for him...

The civil suits will be paid by his estate....

Gloria always wins....

Cosby is going Down! It's about time too!

I have lost all respect for Bill Cosby. Used to think he was a great guy but not anymore, it's such a shame:sowrong: ! Glad he's fianlly getting what he deserves.

I think what these women want, more than money, is some kind of justice since Cosby hasn't had any real repercussions. It's not easy to deal with being raped or sexually assaulted, let alone to talk about it publicly. I think it's extremely sexist to say that these women are after money.

Chicago, I want to make one thing clear.

I think the situation with Cosby is two fold.

While I agree with rdhd that the girls involved in this situation want money, I also agree with you that they want justice.

I dont think that because a man says a woman wants money for damages, it makes that man a "sexist", as you say..

Sometimes, both justice in a legal way, and getting paid financial damages, causes a victim to feel as if there is closure to a case.

I still dont think Cosby will spend any time in jail, because of how long ago these acts happened, and also because of his advanced age, and his physical condition. .

However, if the case if resolved, with say, Cosby being found guilty on criminal charges, and, for example. with him being forced to be placed on a list of registered sex offenders, AND also being forced to pay financial damages to his victims, I certainly think that would be "Justice and Closure" for these women.

I also personally think that is probably how this situation should be ultimately resolved.

Hell, since I raised the issue, I'll come to Chicago's defense. Yes, I probably shouldn't have said it in the first place. (I be gettin' dumber with age.) And, the charges, as TMF Jeff indicated, are criminal, so likely no chance of any victims getting money (although it could happen after a conviction with civil suits). It's just curious that after one comes out, many others do also, with the hopes of what? We never really heard what their motives were - justice? money? fame? And, yes, I'm talking here as a guy, and likely really ticking the gals off. My apologies as a normal American guy. And back to the monetary aspects....even if the plaintiffs in the case get nothing, you can be danged sure their lawyers get paid. Big time on this one. Maybe I'd best just shut my yap now....again, sorry if I've offended the gals here.

rdhd, I know you didnt say it to intentionally tick the girls off.

I'm one who tries to see all sides of a situation.

While I agree with Jeff and Chicago that the girls involved do want justice.

Justice, as we all know, can be a very.. non specific word.

What would be "Justice" for these women?

Jail time for Cosby?

Him being placed on a registered sex offenders list?

Being professionally and socially shunned in Hollywood?

I still say that I agree with you that money is at least part of the motivation here.

I'm sure, in addition to the "Justice" that Chicago mentions, it also has to go through these girls minds

"This rich SOB sexually abused me, I want damages and for him to pay for his crimes, financially".

To not think that is at least.. part of the motivation with all these suits, is to me, not thinking realistically.

Personally, I hope that if Cosby is found guilty, that his victims get justice by him both getting a criminal penalty, whatever that would be at his age, and him having to pay monetary damages.

I stand by my feeling that such an outcome would be appropriate with this whole situation regarding Cosby and his behavior

That's usually how cases are built. There are many situations like this where one victim breaks their silence making others more comfortable to do so. Why would someone who wanted money wait 40 years to bring it up? Why would someone want to get their 15 minutes of fame by making up a rape accusation? Why would someone want to be known for a thing like that? I don't think many people know the names of these women or even how many there are, but they're going to speculate on their motives lol

And yeah lawyers get paid to be lawyers. Insightful.

If 50 some odd people said that they saw something happen, I'd consider that a credible report.

When 50 some odd women come out and say a man raped them, I consider that just the same.

If just two percent of what they are collectively saying about him is true, then he still raped one of them..the odds are not in his favor.

He might be legally innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, but my opinions aren't beholden to some legal restriction, as far as I'm concerned the man is guilty as shit and deserves every bad thing that happens to him.

Rectangle has an excellent point.

Look at the "collective accusations" of 50+ women, and one can come to the conclusion that Cosby is as guilty of Rape/Sexual Assault, as I am of being a Shredded Alpha-Male.

On the front page of

www.wpvi.com..

There is now a question of whether an e-mail exists that could derail the sexual assault case against Cosby.
