So, there I was chatting with everyone's 4-letter word, DVNC..hehe 😛 and it came to mind that good stories were a good thing. Go figure! One of us was bound to start a thread to blather on and on about how we're blissin' to be alive, and it appears I've beatin' him to the post!

So, here I am, asking for y'all to share one. Yes, get me in a room full of folks and I ask you to do things like this, too. HA!

So, if you got a fine new car, a raise for a job well done, a new love that you met, maybe you met that special someone through tickling 🙂, have a new baby, finally found that antique earring that you thought you'd lost forever, hit a good run in the market, a new 'puter with fancy gadgets, a good date last night????

DOESN'T MATTER WHAT it is...s'long as it's good! I want to see something besides terror warnings, the end of the world, pollution, hate, racism, poverty, nastiness....grrr...too much of that makes the news. Care to make the world better by sharing a smile??

I'm sure you all have at least ONE good thing to share!!! Bring it on!

I'll go first by saying that I'm happy to be alive. I've kicked cancer's ass and I'm done getting poked with needles! I've a healthy smart kid, and there is a certain person I've met via the TMF that seems to have weasled his way under my skin and stayed there. Lord help him! LOL

I'm blissin' to breathe! Who's next???

In lurve with life,
Joby

one good thing in my life

is my kids. a this time they are the ONLY sourse of fun and happiness i have. 2 of my daughters softball teams, that i help coach, are doing very well, and my daughters are a big part of the reason.
my oldest daughter just received 3 awards last night at her R.O.T.C. meeting. i was elected to be on the parent association board, lol.
and my son is doing better than expected in hockey.
now if only their mother would stop being such pain!

JoBelle - to make you happy I shall add to this thread...🙂

For me, this year so far has been the best in my life. Loads of turning points...to mention a few: I moved out of my boyfriend's flat after being in an abusive relationship for three years, asked Dr|zzt (member) out who I'd fancied for ages - he said yes, whooo hooo! I'd never had the guts to ask a guy out before and the result: our relationship is absolutely fabulous and we're planning on getting a place together over the summer. Plus of course (how could I forget?) Dr|zzt introduced me to the wonders of being tickled! I've also decided to re-take my final year at uni because my ex messed it up for me - next year I WILL get the result I deserve. All in all I've made several huge decisions and turned my life around for the better. I'm so happy now, things just could not get any better for me at the moment! 🙂

Life has delt me a winning hand it seems. 🙂

Wow! Great thread Joby! 🙂

This past year has brought many blessings to me. First and best of all is my marriage to my wonderful hubby Drew. He is the sweetest and most caring guy in the world. His love has been a true blessing. Of course the fact that he shares the love of tickling is cool too! 😛

This year has also brought some great new friends. Ray and Tracy (the Venrays) have become good friends with whom we've shared good food and fun...tickling and otherwise.

The weather has been back and forth. But, there've been plenty of nice days to do some gardening and spring fix-ups (2 of my fav hobbies).

We've attended our first NEST gathering and have our own coming up in a couple of months!

Ahhhhhhhhh! Life is good indeed.

Ann

Can't say I've had much reason for joy lately, but last night I certainly had: My two daughters (19+14) had invited me for dinner at an Indian restaurant. It was a very belated birthday present, but I enjoyed it thoroughly!

I only get to see them about 4-6 times a year, because the young ladies have sooo many other things to do, LOL. But I'm always fascinated by their fast development. I'm so glad that I contributed to their upbringing as open-minded, intelligent girls with a lot of humor and common sense. Like several other members mentioned before, my kids are my biggest joy! :veryhappy

Happy Times...?

Uhhh...I moved a bit closer to a 7-11, so getting coffee at 2 am isn't as tough, aaannnnd.....ummm.....hey, ya know, I guess it hasn't been that good a year. I'll get back to you on this next year, ok? 😉 Q

My year has been great. First, I was able to forgive a girl who left me high and dry without developing feelings for her, I was getting a little tired cursing her name whenever it was mentioned. We got the old band together for the summer. We're filming a film I wrote this summer. My relations with a friend are developing into young love, I just can't seem to stay a way from Irish lasses. I turned my brother into a Star Wars/Lord of the Rings nerd (No, I don't think I'm a nerd, it's just funny) The boys are back in town and we're ready to paint the town red once again. My summer is looking great.

I Love these repsonses!

Steve and Hal are good examples that the women crying "he doesn't want to commit to a family" are just wrong! I think all of us parents would agree that our kids are our base creators of joys!

Evil Queen..hehe..Gotta love your bliss moment! Only thing now is to have her rejected as a freelance worker because you filled the position..LOL * oops! Did I say that out loud?*

Thanks Ann, you, Cyrano - who cracks me up- and Ayesha -you did make me happy - are to be envied! Love is the "force."

The lucky ladies who have found love and tickling in the same package...well...here ya go...**Hands the princesses little tiaras that sparkle with ticklish beams** Feels good, eh?

Now Q....did you not get a full 8 hours last night? Wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Or are you just filling in for crachety Strel whilst he is on hiatus? I know Red is going to make some little comment that will gets his arse tickled, but YOU??? My witty, tickler pal....I'm worried about you now. It's now my little mission to think of a way to make you smile. I think I just over did it...hehe. You think of something good, or...or...or...

Joby

Even though the cynic in me has some comments that it wants to share, I'll participate in the spirit of the question and report that for me, some good things are: I have a new niece or nephew on the way at the end of June or July to go with my 3 3/4 y/o nephew and 1 1/2 y/o niece that I love and spoil to death, I'm actually getting healthier these days and hopefully looking like it, and I have a great bunch like you guys to come and be tickle-crazy with. 😀

Smiley,
signing out of Pollyanna mode for now.

Ok... I'm game. I'll add to this joyfully.

First, the highlight of today is that on May 17th I celebrated 20 years of sobriety. I have to go get my chip still but 20 years is pretty darned awesome.

Then, I got a new position at work on our Service Operations Group as a Project Manager. It's my dream job to focus on Service Ops now without being pulled here and there with all kinds of PM roles throughout the organization.

I get to go to China for a Car and Motorcycle race! The promoters contacted me and I'm hiring 100 people to fly over to work the race.

We've been doing so much work to the house this year it almost looks brand new inside. With new plumbing, wiring, appliances, flooring, bathrooms, paint, stenciling, furniture, windows, and landscaping and all. Plus the addition of the new double steel walled garage door to replace the other one was cool since my insurance paid for it. Now we just need to finish redoing the landscaping out back and repaint the house on the outside.

My son winning his Class in SCCA last year in a car he built from scratch was just incredible. And having some folks from this community involved in working on the pit crew made it even more special... Thanks Danimal and DVNC!

Having my future daughter-in-law living at the house is a delight. She's finishing college and
is a wonderful addition to our home.

Been traveling lots this year. Albany, Memphis and Phili were all a blast. Met all kinds of new friends and renewed some relationships with other friends. That's always a very good thing.

Getting to spend time with Max, Mike, Pete and Lee again always makes me super happy! I can never get enough of that.

Graduating College! Finally!

Getting to see my dear Buddy, DVNC, fall in love with a wonderful dear lady, Kraftie and having them plus DVNC's mom over for dinner! It truly is all about the love.

Shem and NightFall getting married! A marriage truly made in heaven. I offered to be their feather girl but they said their attendants were already set! LOL

NEST - Tickle de Mayo this year was bigger and better than ever before with lots of pre-NEST activities and lots and lots of laughs due to all kinds of means.

And I'm looking forward to turning 50 in a couple of months. The 30's were terrific. The 40's were fabulous so now BRING ON THE 50's!

Can life get any better than this?

While the bad tends to come with the good, and I have my share of frustrations right now, I also have several things in the works, or that have already transpired over the past few weeks, that allow me to sit back and smile, and appreciate the little things in life that are often so precious. (man, did I make that all one sentence?!)

My daughter learned to ride a two-wheeler Tuesday evening. I've been trying for 2 years to get that little poop to overcome her fears and just do it, to no avail. My husband goes outside to play with her on the trampoline, and the next thing I know, 30 minutes later, she goes flying past the living room window on her two wheeler, riding all by herself. Now she rides like a pro. Figures it took Daddy's touch to do the job right 🙂

My 7 year old nephew is competing in his first year of racing. 4 weeks into the racing season, he won his first race last night. This kid is a natural...blowing away kids who have been doing this for years. And he is so darn modest about his talent. He has a bright future. If he can do it again tomorrow, he will be qualified for the State Championships. I'm crossing my fingers.

Our little darling, Seven, has brought more pleasure to this household then imaginable. No matter what has me down, all I have to do is sit down for a bit, and watch the little clown do his stuff. Whether that be attacking his tail, flipping his little fur mousie around the house, finding entertainment in a piece of fuzz or paper on the floor, or attempting to mutilate one of our other cats, 5 times his size, he is a joy and brings an immediate smile to my face. It's amazing the healing powers pets hold.

My gathering in Sept. After having such a blast at SBG in Albany, back in Feb, I absolutely can not wait to do it again. I will have the incredible pleasure and honor of seeing and playing with several of the great folks I met in Albany again (QBWeaver, Lite, Venray and Venraya....and hopefully Njjen, GuitarPeteTklr, TTD, and Shygal), but I will also have the distinct pleasure and exciting opportunity to meet several other TMF friends who I have been dying for the chance to see face to face, and play with as well (BigJim, SmileyTkls, Uni, Kwildoctr, Big_J, ticklishtom, Dave, grtfoottickler, vikingm). It is all so exciting I can hardly contain myself. I am sure it will be a weekend to remember. Planning and preparing for this gathering gives me all the strength I need to face any challenges in the upcoming months. It's wonderful to have something as great as tickling, and tickling friends, to consume your time and energy. I can't think of anything better in the world 😀 😀

Umm...part 2

Did I mention that 7-11 yet? Okay, Joby, lemme try harder! Well, we did move...although that's a mixed blessing kind of joy. And, hmmm...ya know, I just gotta pass on this again Joby! C'mon, it can't be all ponies and roses and hugs for everyone at once, ya know? Maybe 2003 is my year, and I'll just sort of mosey through this one quietly....deal? 🙄 Q

Well, I got to meet some great friends at SBG in Albany this year, and got to see the best Super Bowl ever played at the same time!

After twelve years of living 3,000 miles apart, my Mom moved into my area. After a little hesitation, we are rebuilding a good relationship finally.

More or less, I'm one of those guys who finds happiness in a sunrise, a good thunderstorm, the Northern Lights...you know....the little things that most overlook, so I try to find these things at least once a day.😎

I'm all chipper and happy reading all this.:bunny: And more determined to do things fun and festive than ever before. Is it just me or doesn't it feel good to put the ick behind you, and focus on the positive for a change?

*happy dance*

Joby
Q....🙄 Darlin'....you're tryin'...that's a good thing. Ummm, you know you have your health, even if you don't have your hair..hehe. 😛 I'll have to start sending you good vibes. I really do in my heart of hearts believe that it CAN be hugs and ponies and rosies if only for a few minutes at a time. But, yes, I suppose I can let you slide, as long as you promise to repost here in about 7 months. 🙂

Hey good news guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I woke up this morning and expected the worst, and you know what? I was not dissapointed!! (does this count joby?)

This may be outside the scope of this thread, but for those who can't find anything positive to say, I offer two "feel good" animal stories, one for cat afficiandos and one for dog lovers.

A few months ago, I saw a young cat who with a urethral obstruction (aka a blocked tom). He was a pretty sick little fellow. The young guy who brought him in was heartbroken. He didn't have enough money to treat the cat, and he was really upset at the thought of euthanizing him. So I told him to sign the cat over to me, and I'd do what I could to fix him and find him a home. After I got him unblocked, the receptionist called him and told him the cat would be find, and we would work on placing him in a foster home. The next day, in walks the guy...who decided to quit smoking and save the money from cigarettes to pay for the cat. He had awoken to an empty apartment and decided he just couldn't live without the little guy. To make an even better story, the guy's mother came in a few days later. She explained that she couldn't believe this was her son acting this way over a cat! She had worked some overtime and she paid off half his bill. The latest news is cat and owner are doing well 🙂

The dog story may be past the statute of limitations, but last winter a client showed up carrying a dog in his arms. He had found it on the side of the road and after initially thinking it dead, he was surprised to see the dog lift its head. He had to get back home, but he before leaving, he merely said, do whatever you can for the dog...I looked at the assistants (who knew this client better than I did) and asked if he was serious. Not only was he serious, he authorized up to $1,000 for the treatment. That kind of generosity for a stray animal just floored me! Anyway, this was a young dog, in pretty good physical shape. He had obviously been hit by a car and left for dead. X-rays showed that his pelvis was broken, and not a simple little fracture either. So I asked my boss what we could do for this young fortunate sole. She ok'd giving them a break on the bill, and we sent them to an orthopedic surgeon who could repair at least some of the damage. At that time, I had to leave town for a conference. When I returned, I tried to find out what happened to the dog. No one knew for sure. Then, I got delivery...a dozen roses from an Owen X...I had no idea who it was until one of the receptionists explained. They kept the dog and had the pelvis fixed (for $2,000!). They named him "Owen" because they would be owing on him for a while. A month later, I neutered him and he was a permanent part of the family 😛

I don't know if that qualifies for what you were looking for Jo...but that's my take on life. Find the good in the small things. On the human side, I've got my health, a job a love, family who tolerates me, and I'm meeting new people/making new friends. And just for you Jo, I even changed my cynical signature...

Red,
Darling, I warned you. Didn't I? 😛 You heard the serious tone of voice when I said it. You managed to not be too sarcastic, but this wasn't quite what I expected. I'm not sure if you're in trouble or not yet since I know the day you had and frankly, the comment is true..lol! I'll have to think about it, Love. In the meantime, I'm sharpening my nails.

Des,
Thanks for the stories, and the sig line. BOTH are great! 🙂 I know there are a lot of pet lovers on the TMF who will appreciate your post immensly!!

Thanks for sharing!!!
JO

Every year, usually several times but AT LEAST once or twice, I say to myself "This year has been the best ever, they just keep on getting better". I don't know if it's true because I've been saying that, or that I've been saying that because it's true.

The reasons I have for the past 12 months are....

I have met some of the most wonderful people I've ever known. I've also met some real jerks, but those people only serve to remind me how wonderful all the others are.

My dearest friends are all, at the moment, healthy and relatively happy. (JoBelle...I'm SO glad you're doing well!)

My daughter is turning 20 this week, and I couldn't be prouder of her. All any parent wants is that their child(ren) have absorbed enough teaching to have the tools to make themselves a happy and prosperous life...I would be deluding myself to say it was in any way because of me, but she is one wonderful young lady!

I have a 17-year-old cat who has been smart enough not to get hit by a truck on the highway.

Thanks for the thread, Jo! As they said in "Life of Brian"....

Always look on the bright side of life!

Kim

Omg Des, those stories were so beautiful I actually cried. Still am, in fact, as I type this reply. I am one of the biggest animal lovers in the world, and nothing touches my heart more then reading stories about other people in this world who love animals as much as I do, and who go way beyond the call of duty to extend loving arms and a good home when needed most. I have a book that is literally falling apart from being read so many times. It is called "Chicken Soup For The Pet Lovers Soul". I highly recommend it to anyone who was touched by Des's stories. If ever there was a feel good book out there, that one is it....

I managed to restrain myself from leaping off the bridge this week. Is that good? 😀

Big Jim...lol..

A kindred spirit! I suggest you/we start another thread, something along the lines of:

"Well...it hasn't totally sucked this year, but it's early"

We can post witty, pithy sayings like:

Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever
they go.

He's one person who would make a perfect stranger.

He can stay longer in an hour than most people do in a week.

Ah, cynics and pundits, gotta love us! 😉 Q
