Bondage with neckties?

Hi,

So, I'm a student. As a result, I can't exactly afford decent bondage equipment (I have a few pairs of £5 metal handcuffs but they chafe a lot). I've seen references to using neckties but I can't work out how exactly it works - I've tried once but with standard (tie) knots everything kept slipping. Any guides, either written or with a video? FWIW I'm looking to go for a spreadeagle (i.e. tying a wrist to a bedpost) on a bed if it's relevant.

Unless you are buying your neckties out of a Salvation Army bargain basement bin at 10 for a dollar, I do not understand why you do not buy a nice 50 - 100 ft. length of thick braided nylon rope. It is as cheap as dirt and easier to use.

What C.A.B. said. I don't know what you have for hardware stores across the pond, but I've seen a pretty good selection of rope in your average hardware stores here. Find the softest they have and you should be able to tie someone up just about any way you want!

I use neck ties A LOT. They are comfy and never fail.

Never use handcuffs. They bruise and chafe.

CAB is right- buy some round braided (NOT twisted) soft nylon rope, 3/8" at least in diameter from a hardware store. Four ten foot lengths is a good starter kit. The reason neckties are not a good idea is because the more turns of rope around a limb before tying off, the more the pressure is diffused and the less chance there will be of cutting off circulation or otherwise hurting your sub. In other words, the turns of rope hold the person; the knot simply secures the rope. Neckties aren't long enough to do this.

I personally really like neckties!!! I dislike rope because it leaves marks on my very fair skin.

My experience with neckties as restraints is good (I have lots of older, outdated neckties set aside exclusively for that purpose). If the bed's headboard is solid, try tying two ties together and passing them around the back of the headboard. You should have ample extra on both ends to secure your ticklee's wrists. A tie around each of the bed legs at the bottom should be plenty for ankles.

Inasmuch as possible, use the fatter part of the tie around the flesh. The idea is to restrain with comfort, not to pinch the skin. Ties have worked great for me over the years, and when my "victims" have been restrained, the laughter is much more desperate and delicious!

Okay, but what sort of knot should I be using?

I use a knot I learned making bracelets, it looks looser but as there is pressure added it tightens.
Put your loose end over the end tied to the post and pull it through the hole. I then put it back over top of the line going to the bed and back through the hole. It like your tying the knot around the main rope but it is grabbed. I usually only do it twice but if you feel more comfortable make as many knots like that as you want.
Sorry if I didn't explain it too well, I'm just used to doing it not describing.

I like what CassandraMarie said; gonna try that! But for me, frankly . . . any old knot works. I've never had a 'lee fight so ferociously that the knots slip. I tie them tightly; if I can't work the knot loose later, cut the tie and throw it out. If it hasn't been said already, look at some of Guiltrip's videos. He's had good luck with ties; in fact, I think it's kind of sexy in his clips when a struggling 'lee makes the knot work loose. Then I know I'm watching the genuinely ticklish victim.

The softer type of garden rope is a good thing to use (make sure you feel it before buying) and I would also probably shout out for a gi belt too. Well, you'd need four or five.

To be honest though, cheaper bondage gear is pretty easy to come by these days.

Anyway as the others have said, rope is cheap and can be used many ways.
