For some reason, Ross was in a much more somber and sullen mood as his flight winged toward Dallas and OKC.
Ross "Wanted" to cancel the trip completely, considering all that was going on with Alan Hell himself, and Alan's Philadelphia and LA offices.
Not to mention Ross's father's physical condition.
Yet, Ross knew that he could not just essentially "Blow off" an investor show.
Ross had promised to be home Wednesday night. Depending on how Ross felt, he could technically push three full days, go home at dawn on Thursday, go straight into the office and just work the whole day, but Ross would have to see how things were going first.
When Ross got to the office, he greeted Fritz and Steve.
"Ross, we knew it was difficult for you to get down here this time, how is your Dad?" Fritz said, bumping fists with Ross.
"Dad says he's the same. If God Forbid something serious happens, I will just get out of here. He's being watched, so I just have to go on with things" Ross said.
"We are going to have nice easy shows this time. No BS to keep you calm. Three shows, today, tomorrow and Wednesday. Fifty people each. If things calm down you can come back in a few weeks" Fritz said.
"That is good. Between the three of us., Alan Hell's partner in LA made a comment about my being involved with you guys as a negative to my being able to iron out a campaign in Alan's office in LA. Alan laughed in the guy's face and told him that I've been working for Alan for years, and always get in all work on time, and that what I do down here is none of said guy's business" Ross said.
Fritz laughed. "Good old Mister Hell. So important to all of us, and such a great explainer"
With no time to waste, Fritz, Steve, and Ross got into the SUV and drove to the field outside OKC
"Ross, we did not think you would even get here this time" The foreman said.
"Personal problem up at home. Its being taken care of. I'm intending to stay here three days and go home Wednesday afternoon, maybe stretched to Thursday morning early depending on what happens" Ross said.
The foreman showed the fifty people the situation, and there were another surprise 25 people via Zoom . Half liked it, and thirty five agreed to sign up,
When Ross, Fritz and Steve got back to OKC they had dinner
"You were lucky to get out of there with all going on" Fritz said.
"Basically, except for one meeting with David Markson when I was in Beverly Hills, Kayley and I had been on vacation the week before I got back to the office. I'm fine. When I get home, I will just do the regular work on Alan Hell's campaign, however Alan wants it, make changes to his approval if he wants them, and then it will be done" Ross said.
"You seem so.. calm" Fritz said.
"No reason not to be. As for Alan's difficult partner Tom in Philadelphia, Alan said that Alan will deal with Tom if Tom gets too frisky. Let me worry about this first and not let my head run all over the place" Ross said.
When Ross finished dinner, Fritz and Steve dropped Ross off at the hotel and Ross called Kayley.
"Half of seventy five people we showed it to signed up. I'm not going to obsess. I came down here because I really had to. After this I wont be coming down for three weeks to a month. I must finish Alan Hell 's campaign immediately when I get back. The only thing I may do which is no biggie is to go to Toronto for one day or a one night sleepover to see John Fish. I will see about that when I get home, first things first" Ross said.
The next day, the same thing. About one hundred people taken to the field, forty guaranteed signups, another ten maybes. Again not bad.
Ross slept in OKC that night.
The last show was Wednesday. Back to the field they went. Another one hundred investors courted, 45 signups. So one hundred and ten signups was fine.
"I want you out of here tonight and in the office working on whatever Alan wants tomorrow. Don't worry about John Fish. I can get through to him, and tell him that you must finish something that is mega important to all of us , so you cant go to Toronto for any more than the day. Go up, talk to John, get all the details, go home, and FEDEX it to us. That is what phones, emails, and conference calls are for" Fritz said.
"Yes Sir" Ross said, bumping fists goodbye with Steve and Fritz
Ross called Kayley.
"Six pm flight out of here. into JFK at midnight. Home by 1. I will stay home in the morning, but I must go to the office in the afternoon, and call our friend Mister Hell. I pushed this trip, but did not want to stay over the third night" Ross said.
"Okay, if I'm sleeping, no snoring or foot tickling" Kayley said.
"Foot tickling, no, snoring, well I cant promise that" Ross said.
Ross boarded the plane, tried to rest. The plane got into JFK at 1210 am, and Ross was home at 1 with no traffic at that hour.
Kayley was half up.
"It does not sound like it was a bad trip" Kayley said.
"I did not tell you this. I dont know yet, but Alan Hell called me in my private office at RFS. Alan told me that Alan talked to Mister Tough Ass Philadelphia Tom and told Tom to supposedly cool his act with me. I might have to go back to Philly for the day next week. I know that I must go to Toronto to see John Fish, just for the day also. Besides that, all is moving along" Ross said.
"Sounds good. No Timothy as he is being taken care of. All focus on Hell and his campaigns and associates, and Ross seems calm" Kayley said, picking her head up as Ross kissed her.
Ross undressed, threw his dirty laundry in the hamper, and went to get into bed.
Unknown to Ross, since he had his phone on vibrate, Ross's message light showed he had messages.
What was it THIS TIME? As Ross had just returned home exhausted from an at least decently productive OKC trip.
