What tv show did you watch from the past or currently watching that you would want to buy the dvd set when it comes out to stores?

My choices are

1) Prison Break
2) House MD
3) Shark
4) Numbers

I already have Star Trek: The Animated Series, and am waiting for Back to the Future. Those are pretty much the only ones I can afford right now. 😛

I'm more of a cartoon man, myself. I own two of four Batman: The Animated Series DVD's and plan to get volume 3 sometime down the line.

I had never bothered to watch E.R. in the past, but was over house-sitting last week at my sister's and watched three episodes back-to-back on Wednesday, when TNT(or was it TBS?) apparently plays E.R. marathons.
Anyway, long story short, now I'm hooked, and wanna start a collection of all the seasons, but hell, how long's the thing been on? It would be costly.

Others I'd like are:
Heroes
The new Battlestar Galactica
Millenium

There's probably others I'm forgetting at the moment...

ER will have been on for 13 complete seasons in May... but the DVD sets haven't caught up yet. I'd recommend Battlestar Galactica or Millenium... you can easily get caught up with the former or own all of the latter. The reason I'm holding off on getting all 500 hours of Trek is that I wouldn't be happy building my collection season by season--when I have $2000 to spare, I know what I'm spending it on.

Oh, may the Almighty Deity have mercy...

THE LIST:
Batman: The Animated Series 1 - 4
TRIGUN BOX SET
COWBOY BEBOP BOX SET
OUTLAW STAR BOX SET
Mystery Science Theater Seasons 1 - 7
SWAT Kats {I'm still praying....}
Freakazoid {Praying even HARDER}
Tiny Toons {Why aren't these out yet!?}
Harvery Birdman - All Seasons
Sealab - First Two
Venture Brothers Box Sets 1 and 2
Columbo Seasons 1, 2 and 3
Star Trek
X-Files
Red Dwarf

...to be continued...

To me, only retro stuff 😉:

1.- The Green Hornet.
2.- Kung Fu.
3.- Golden Bat.
4.- Masked Rider.

There are others more, but i doubt that someone else knows them.

I'm looking forward to The Larry Sanders Show.

Nearly everything else I can think of mentioning--Deadwood, the new Battlestar Galactica, The Office (British version), The Wire, Buffy, Firefly, Arrested Development, Seinfeld--is already on DVD, I think. (Though God knows I don't own most of them, and probably never will...)

Yeah, mine's the same way, Wade. Just a wish-list. I may try to con afew of mine from relatives next holiday season as gifts, but otherwise, it's unlikely I'll get to see them anytime soon. 🙁

Here's a smattering of recommendations...

The Wild Wild West: If the only thing you know by this name is the Will Smith feature film monstrosity from a few years back, please see the original '60s TV series to wash away the foul taste. Very quirky and hip... it holds up very well, thanks to fine scripting and acting. Only the first season is available so far, but the second is due soon.

Walking With... whatever they got! "Dinosaurs", "Beasts", "Cavemen", "Monsters"... the last word in televised paleontological reconstruction! These BBC produced series feature an intelligent, literate approach that bolsters the stunning CG visuals. My cherished prehistoria has never seemed so real! Watch for "Allosaurus, the Ballad of Big Al", and "Chased by Monsters", more lively goodies from the same producers.

The Outer Limits: The original '60s season-and-a-half, not the later abortion. The best of bizarre storytelling in bold, beautiful black-and-white! Taut, lyrically written, well acted (by performers who would later become TV icons) and directed with high visual flourish. The Joseph Stephano episodes (he produced the first season and also scripted) have a faux-Shakespearean lilt that's like music to listen to! Not easy to find anymore, though I've seen used copies reasonably priced.

Rocky and Bullwinkle: The immortal Jay Ward classic! Three seasons are available, not all by a long shot, but it's been a long time since the last release. I fear the schedule may be at an end... what a crime! This series is a marvel of sassy brilliance, filled with crazed scenarios, iconic characters and topical quips that seem no less fresh today then when they were new. The animation style makes the most of meager resources, turning production paucity into a virtue! Precious little Jay Ward stuff has made its way to DVD (if you don't count pirate copies, where it's raving popular)... enjoy what there is while it lasts.

Also looking forward to the upcoming release of Get Smart, a hilarious spy spoof from (yet again) the 1960s. My treasured childhood will live again if I have to force it!

"The Wonder Years" and "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" are what I'm waiting for. They have bootleg versions but I want the real deal.

Rocky and Bullwinkle 3 sets

Wacky Races

Dangermouse 2 sets

Ultraman seasons 1 and 2

Robot Chicken season 1

Venture Brothers season 1

Count Duckula season 1

The only two shows I collect religiously are Doctor Who and MST3K. I would have collected Kolchak: The Nightstalker (with Darren McGavin), but they released all of those episodes in one set.

To be honest, I'm a bit fed-up with television sets, especially those dealing with cartoons. Aside from Batman: TAS and He-Man, the other classic 80's cartoons and even semi-classic live-action shows (like Quantum Leap) are often treated rather poorly. Popular songs featured in the show when it aired on television have been replaced with "muzak," episodes are cut (both edited and cut completely) for no real reason, and some episodes are missing their soundtracks altogether (as is the case with ThunderCats S1 P1). Plus there's also the issue of inconsistency in visual quality...some scenes have been cleaned while others have not, some mistakes have been made in restoration that were not visible during the original airing, etc. At least with bootlegs, you know that what you're getting will have no muzak or edits (unless it was a taping of a rebroadcast).

But, yes, Doctor Who and MST3K. That's about it for me.

Ooo! I would love to own all the MST3K's and Rocky & Bullwinkles. Good call back there by LilBigHead on the old Wild Wild West, too!
