I've been lucky enough in my less than a handful of encounters with forum members to have only had REALLY GREAT experiences, I think a great deal in part to the fact that we spend a lot of time getting to know each other months in advance. Anyhoo...

I'm coming to Fort Lauderdale to be in a friend's yacht wedding on April 23 of next year. I debated over whether to stay the week before or the week after and finally decided on week after due to spring break. FYI--I'm not just looking for tk fun but also opinions in general, where to stay, where to party, where to avoid, etc...

You told me a bit about San Fran when I was out there recently so it's only fair to reciprocate. I live in Tampa Bay but I go to Ft Lauderdale cause my kids are there. Ya gotta see South Beach. It's such an awsome place to spend time both during the day and night. My next west coast trip is Seattle on June 21st. I'll be staying downtown so if ya got any ideas about that town, let me know.

I remember that--how was your trip??? Did you get down to San Diego as well? South Beach is in Miami, right--Is it Ocean Drive and all that? How far is it from Fort Lauderdale?

Oh I LOVE Seattle--so lush, rainy and GREEN, we had friends that used to live there--I could KILL 'em for coming to move back here--it was a great place to escape our hundred degree heat!😀

Well, let's see, Seattle is such a rich territory w/regards to music, etc., you can often find some kind of festival going on downtown. You can take a ride up the Space Needle for a mind-blowinging, stunning view of the Bay and the City and since you'll be downtown, take a little trip to the Public Market (the Wharf, where you might have seen those guys on TV in the yellow rubber pants throwing these huge fish back and forth and swearing at each other,) it's really fun to watch. That area has some super seafood restaurants and very quaint little shops (some of it feels a bit Haight-Ashbury, with its funky locals and artsy atmosphere.) I have a picture somewhere that I took of these Rastafarian guys smoking a joint directly under a sign that says, "Drug-Free Zone." LOL!

I liked the people a lot too. I didn't really get that "big city vibe" that you usually feel in a place that large. People actually drive the speed limit, which may or may not make you crazy, but I loved it!

Thanks Steph... great info. I'll be working during the day but I usually have late afternoon/evening to explore a bit. Sometimes I'm in great towns (San Fransisco, San Diego, Seattle, Chicago) sometimes not (I'm catching a plane to Columbia, SC later today).

As far as South Beach goes, it'll take about 30-40 minutes to get from Lauderdale down to Oceanside Dr depending on traffic. It's a quick trip down the interstate as long as it's not rush hour. You'll need a map though because I don't believe the exit is marked as "South Beach".

Have fun and thanks for the Seattle tips. I will try to take advantage.

Chatting would be nice. I'm on the internet usually every night during the week (because of the Hotel room thing) and not so much on the weekend. This week I'm on a dial up so I can't do too much.
I don't have a member pic but I do have some I could send when I'm back on my highspeed.
The guitar playing is very cool. I used to play piano and write some music. Always wanted to learn to play guitar, just never did.
