I just read an article on AOL discussing the "protein source" of things like Camel and Iguana. Then, there was a poll attached asking if people would try such things. 64% of those polled answered "No, that's disgusting". I personally agree, but, as with anything, to each their own.

Thoughts on Camel, and Iguana, burgers?

They call Iguana "Chicken of the Trees" down here. It... tastes of chicken. Not as stringy or fishy like Alligator.

Camel... bleh... not since I witnessed one turn its sinuses inside out in a mating display. yuk.

Yeah,..... we had alligator burgers on Hilton Head Island,.... not so great. Never heard of eating iguana, though. (We had those at HHI, too) I shouldn't roll my eyes at the thought of eating camel, I guess,...... I had my share of bear and buffalo in Colorado.

I've eaten deer, turtle, rabbit, horse, and goat, so I would be willing to try both iguana and camel to see if I liked them.

The only animals I wouldn't eat are us (humans) ad our cousins (the great apes--chimpanzees, gorillas, bonobos, and orangutans).

In his famous early survivalist book, How To Stay Alive In the Woods," Bradford Angier notes that beaver is the all-around best critter to bring down and eat in the wild. I've never had it, but Angier maintains that it is very similar to pork.

During my time in Iraq I lived with the Iraqi army for the first tour, so I tried lamb, goat, sheep, and I believe I tried camel but I cant remember. Out of all of them the only one that wasnt delicious was goat. It had a strange chewy consistency that was unagreeable.

How was the horse meat? It looks and sounds sooo good but I don't know anyone personally who has tried it.

Meat is meat. I'd give it a go.

Then I'd merge them and corner the market with my famous Camguana Surprise.

I'd try either once, but I think camel seems like a more natural fit, because I imagine it would be similar to beef.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that's the stuff. Right there."
