Sometimes when you are least expecting it life can throw you a curveball you never, ever saw coming. I was diagnosed in June with stomach cancer, and it has radically altered my life and made me ask questions about my own mortality and "what it all means." Being 33 and having never had any medical problems to speak of ever, it definitely came as a shock that what I thought was the flu turned out to be way more. Obviously, as one does, I have done exhaustive research on my type of cancer, and with the right treatment, my odds of survival are thankfully pretty decent. My question is, are there many cancer survivors on this forum? I would like to hear from and engage with people who have overcome cancer. Hearing other stories might give me some encouragement and general positivity. I have a very small, but dedicated support system which imperative if you are sick and your life has to change. I rarely ever post anything of a personal nature here, But having been coming to this forum regularly since I was 18, I feel very comfortable sharing what I am currently dealing with.

That's some heavy shit man. I have personally never had cancer and I hope that I never have to go through it (knocking on wood). Sending positive thoughts your way. Hang in there, bro, you can beat it! We're all pulling for you.:console:

Just thought I'd echo Switch's sentiments. And hopefully you'll get some replies from people who have been in the same position.

Sorry to hear this news. wish I could help you out. ive never had cancer, but my mom and both grandfathers did. that's the closest ive been to it. I wish the best for you.

Early detection is very important with a cancer diagnosis and it sounds like your doctors are on top of this, Mr. Boston. Doing online research can be very helpful, but be aware that there is a lot of misinformation out there, as well. Stay away from survival statistics....they are useless. Cancer research has come a long way just in the last few years, and is starting to bear fruit. Immune Therapy has just been FDA approved and early results have been very positive, even with stage four patients. So far it is proving to be a great alternative to chemo. Remember, keeping a positive attitude is half the battle.:smilestar

That hasn't happened yet, but people have been awfully supportive, which I appreciate. Thank you!

Yeah, cancer is a dick. I am definitely staying positive though. Thanks for the sentiments!

Mine was detected relatively early thankfully. I really appreciate all the advice man. Sincerely. 🙂

Also, from what ive heard, 4 out of 5 doctors recommend tickling as a cure for cancer. :headbang:

I'm very sorry about your cancer, BostonTickling.

I've not had cancer, but my mom, and one of my grandfathers did.

Thankfully your cancer was detected early, and that's good about you having a real life support group to help you, as well as the support you receive here.

My thoughts and prayers are with you for a full and complete recovery.

If you ever just want to chat, please feel free to message me anytime, and I'll get back to you within the day.

Quick question for ya Boston, did you have some blood in your stool infrequently before you were diagnosed? What about some pain near the liver region of your body? I ask as I have a friend showing those sort of symptoms and I'm trying to convince him to see a doctor / specialist.

I had no real symptoms. I just got what I thought was a bad stomach flu, and low and behold, cancer. It was very surprising.

Oh no that's so sad!!

I've not had cancer but people very close to me have. Early detection and a good support group to lean on are essential though. It sounds like you have the former and I hope you have the latter.

I'll be sending positive thoughts your way.

Take care!! 🙂

Well, I hope you have great success fighting this Boston.

As my GF would say, "YOU CAN DOOO IIITTTT!" 😉 😀
