Well, maybe this post isn't tickling related as such, but more related to the TMF itself.

I know I'm not the only one getting sick of people posting in the wrong places. Links and update imformation keeps getting posted in the images forum, requests are filling up the clips forum. Also in the clips forum you get people asking each other to Email them things... why not just Email that person yourself?!

Don't mean to flame since I know the TMF is against that. It just gets me so frustrated to see the TMF not really working the way it should because people can't read!

The whole tickling scene in general is becoming frustrating to me, with more and more sites becoming commercial, videos being expensive and only possible to buy through credit card or US currency. Isn't it a bit silly for sites like Extremetickling.com to boast all these great clips at a price when people can post them anywhere for free???

It just feels like nice little communities like this, that were once somewhat 'underground', become gradually overrun by either money grabbing companies or... putting it bluntly... idiots who can't post in the right damn places!!!

What's more, why is it that when people get pissed off about stuff and speak their mind like I'm doing, their posts get either deleted or the person verbally attacked? I love the TMF, it's my online safe haven. But it's slowly being torn apart and that makes me sad.

Maybe Yaqi has the right idea in his tireless quest to make tickling mainstream. Fair enough, it wouldn't be our own private little thing anymore, but at least we could actually see stuff without having to pay for it!

I'm done. Just needed to vent. Sorry.

Hi Lynchy,

Good post, and no need to apologize for your feelings!

I'll address your above statements from my point of view. Sites become commercial so that the creators can keep the site up. Models, cameras and other equipment cost money. Producers have to charge to make a profit and keep going. As has been said, none of us are rich, trust me. The credit card thing I dunno, I and most companies I've dealt with have a PO box where you can send your payment. I like Extremetickling.com because I don't have to go searching for the clips I want to see, they're all in one groovy spot-that's worth $6 a month to me. Plus they have many clips I've either never seen before or haven't seen since the late '80s, which is very cool.

It takes work to keep these things going, I don't understand why it bothers people to pay others for their work. I get paid for my regular business, I assume your boss pays you. I pay the guy who washes my car, the chick who cleans my teeth...why shouldn't we pay those who provide us with entertainment? Furthermore, we pay for mainstream entertainment also-at least I did last time I went to a movie or rented a video. I pay damn good money everytime I go see my favorite comic, and he's not even tied up

Lynchy, it's true that some things are posted in the wrong forums, but if they are, let the mods worry about it. I used to complain about that too, but we're just users and can't move them anyways, so don't bother. The commercial aspect was pretty much summed up for me by Bella. And there's nothing wrong with speaking out--in fact, you should do it every chance you get--but you must do it in a civil way, otherwise flame wars will break out. That's why the mods sometimes edit or delete our posts if they're inappropriate. Just enjoy the TMF and don't have a cow, man. 🙂

You raise some good points, though not necessarily all valid (in my view, anyway). I think some may be based on a lack of information.

I totally agree that people should try to keep things in the proper forums. The mods can and do move them when necessary. But, that just makes more work for people who are already overworked (and rarely even getting a thanks for it). I don't recall what I received AFA information when I joined the TMF. Perhaps and auto-responder message that outlined things would prove helpful to newbies. But, a good number of those posting in the wrong sections have been around a while. Messages like your own will hopefully be read and act as a reminder to think before we post.

As for the comments about Extremetickling (since you named them specificly)...Steve barely makes enough from subscriptions to cover the cost of keeping the site up and the clips available. Yes, there are a fair number of clips available elsewhere (including some found on ET). But, where else can you go to find so many clips from so many sources, many of which are NOT available anywhere else, for such a great price? If you want free clips, there are tons of yahoo groups and sites, most of which has a few each (many repeated in several places). You can collect them all, as I did, and still be FAR short of Steve's ever-increasing collection.

As for companies accepting limitted forms of payment... That's a business decision that's likely based on projected marketing areas. If people write them and request alternate forms (PayPal can convert curency easily and doesn't cost much to use.), they may be willing to look into it. I think part of the problem is that there are some who expect them to be mind readers and know desires that have never been voiced.

Just my thoughts on the matters.

Honestly now

Is it really THAT bad? No. All you are doing by complaining is pushing newcomers away. Chill out. Im sure a few misplaced posts won't ruin your little time here. Besides, life is a burden to you, remember?

How is that pushing newcomers away? All your doing by complaining is voicing your opinion which should be allowed in any good forum. If you don't like it don't read it. If complaining about it is the way you want to handle it then so be it complain away.

If you see a post in the wrong forum click on the report this post to a mod button and say so. One of us will be along to scoop it up and move it, or decide it's ok where it is. We catch as many as we can, but we don't get everything, and things slip by.

Can TMF members read ?

Check out...

http://www.ticklingforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=20821

In my initial post, the 2nd sentence of the 2nd paragarph was...

Oh yeah, before the lectures start, let's make sure that everybody here reads this: vitamins, exercise, and sensible eating are all part and parcel of my regular life.

So far, I have seen 3 members post a response in context; two agreed and one countered with a different argument.

I will leave it to the reader to veiw the flood of weight-loss and cardio-vascular lectures in that thread.
