I think both were in the wrong here. But the cop more so.
#1. If you are going to pass someone,then go faster than the vehicle you are passing is going.
#2.If the vehicle you are following is doing the speed limit,then why pass them?

I would go to court on something like this. Just because a person is a cop,it does not give them the right to tailgate. Even if that woman would have slowed down,and used her turn signal,then got behind the truck,who is to say the cop would not have given her a ticket?

not sure of the rules in the US but here in the UK you are not allowed to exceed the speed limit when overtaking someone.... Your second point is 100% valid and can't argue with it 🙂

If you are in a lane to try and pass don't keep pace with the truck. If you are passing and then getting back into the right lane I doubt the cop would be as annoyed and pull you over. If you're keeping pace with the truck when you are in the passing lane why the hell did you bother in the first place. I don't know about NJ but here in PA when on the turnpike the cops will go flying by you. Most don't care if you speed up to get around people as long as you aren't slowing them down. Mind you that's not saying they'll let you get away with going 90 but 70-75 to get around someone and not slow them up sure.
