Hi @ all!

Is it possible to save a Real Media Stream (Video & Audio) on to my hard disc? I don´t wanna make profit with this, but its much easier to handle.

Any suggestions?

Thanx in advance.

Yes it is very possible. If you were to some how get Internet Explorer 2.0 or earlier to work with your current windows, you would be able to obtain the streaming vid. What that version of explorer did that the new versions do not is cache the streaming vid in your temporary internet files. Just like all versions do for pictures and other things like that. However, getting Real Player or the other new utilities to work with an inferior web-browser is hard, but not quite as hard as getting them to work with windows 98 or higher. So if you are able to do it, let me know, I would be interested as well.

You don't need to use Explorer 2.0 or below, there is a special (illegal) utility for use with win98/2k/XP that can save streams using modern versions of explorer.

not that I'd consider doing anything illegal, but just where can you find this utility?

As others have stated, there are programs out there to capture streams. Getting the quality remotely close to the original is the problem. Although there are great programs out there to capture mp3 streams, I haven't found one that captures video well.

asfrecorder

I heard that this little program can capture videostream to hard disc
But this person used it to download streaming online of Windows media player....could be posible to use this program (if we can get it) to recorder realplayer streaming??
Does *.asf (A...Streaming Format)...the same for win media player and realplayer/real one???😕

If you can determine where the source of the stream is coming from... acquire the location of the actual file itself that is being streamed... you can use a program called "wget" to download it. It can be somewhat complicated to a novice computer user, but I'm sure there's plenty of online documentation to walk you through it, in addition to a built-in "help" thing.
