Hello..

I have a real concern and hope for it to be discussed, to hopefully put my mind at ease some. Recently i've started doin a reflexology class. At the end of the 1st class, the teacher needed a volunteer to have it done. i watched closely as she began the treatment. then somethin occured to me... i have very ticklish feet. this could be a problem, as we have to work on each others feet in class. the other side of the problem, should anyone elses feet be ticklish, there's a good chance i'll get turned on. this would defy the code of ethics, i think. well, so long as i didn't do anything, i should be fine. But my concern is, do u think this will hinder me any in becomin a reflexologist? perhaps this is 1 of silliest comments to have come on here, but it is a concern of mine and i feel someone on here can help.

Thanks for your time
DM

Let me get this straight. So, you, a tickling fetishist, decided to become a reflexologist, a new age psuedo-medical practice, and you only now thought about this potential issue?

All things considered, if you believe this'll be a potential ethics violation, I would back out of the entire thing before you go much farther. After all, it's reflexology! No offense to your... ah... career choice, but the only thing it has to offer is a chance for so-called patients to fool themselves into thinking they're feeling better for having looked into alternative medicine. I'd look into a job that'll be stable and actually make you some money without giving Junior a reason to stand up and salute.

Arr.

This bein' talk like a pirate day, ye shall receive yer advice from me in th' correct form.

What be ye thinkin'!? As me beloved has just told ye, there be n'future in this reflexology. Alternative healin' be th' new snake oil. What if ye turned yer sights t'ward somethin' of merit, me boy?

What, ye ask? What!? Ye lily-livered lubber, I be talkin' 'bout sailin'! Find yerself a fine ship an' entreat her captain t' let ye join th' crew! You'll be swabbin' the deck b'fore ye know, an' as we all know, that be real happiness.

Avast this new-age nonsense and become a pirate, boy!

It's pretty amazing that it took you this long to realize where your career path was taking you. How didn't you know this before-hand?.

Although, at least you can recognize what you are doing is wrong, and change your life. That's more then I can say for some of the members on here...

...Which is actually a GREAT chance for me to bring someone else up. Everybody who reads this, look at this thread!

At least you have more morals then that guy.

Given the situation you described I would probably consider a different career path for reasons already given and down the road, I would think there are problems and trouble brewing.

There is no ethical problem. None, nada. I'm positive that there have been doctors that have gotten an erection when giving a physical. It happens. The only time there is an ethical problem is when you make an ethical problem. If you can't perform yor job properly there is an ethical problem.

As far as reflexology is concerned, it has been extremely successful as a field. Other then the holistic side of it and using massage to attempt to help certain ailments, one of the procedures that was developed through reflexology was a vacuum boot system that draws blood to certain points of the foot and based on the patterning of it they can distinguish certain health problems.

Don't just quit when you just started because you're afraid of something, give it a shot, it might not be that bad.

Yeah. Best to jump ship on that career path.
You're barking up the tree of scandal and lawsuits.
Here's the best way to put it:
If you think there will be an ethical problem, then your conciousness has already lost the battle to be ethical. It may not be today, or five years from now, but at some point, you will lose the battle to keep your job, and be ethical whilst doing it.

Hold on Dragon....don't listen to anything these naysayers are telling you.
I'm a professional pedicurist and a reflexoligist with a foot fetish and on the job it is all professional and there are no "juniors" saluting whatsoever.
Its a job, and as long as you keep it that way, theres no problem pursuing your career. Good luck.

Misterpidi, thank you for the confidence 🙂 good to know i'm not the only 1 with both interests. In regards to this comment, i went for another class there recently and it turned out to be quite different to what i thought it would be. We were put into pairs and worked on each others feet. I was nervous, of course. But it turned out to be very relaxing for her. I must say, i'm strange kinda being.. i like makin ppl happy and seein that i did as such made me feel really good. there was no ticklish moments nor was i tempted. As misterpidi says, it was a job and seemed to be professional enough. when i'd finished she thanked me and then it was my turn. I was quite nervous because i wasn't sure if my feet would indeed be ticklish or not.. and you know what happened?............
It was so relaxin. there were only 2 ticklish moments that lasted for a quarter of a second and they more reflexs than tickles as such. so this really did put my mind at ease. In regards to my fetish, i'd be more of an UB tickle fan, but i wasn't sure if my initial concern woulda been relevant. thankfully, i see light at the end of the tunnel as massage seems to be something i'd be interested in. reflexology, bein an accurate foot massage, for me, feels right. i understand people thinkin it isn't a proper career choice, and allow me to clear this up - i have a job. granted not my ideal job, but its a call centre for medical things. its a good enough job and i'm not gonna jump ship and leave it all for the potential hope that i MIGHT get clients, WHICH may only be a 1 off visit. What i intend to do is maybe see clients in the evening and get a bit of extra dosh. should the amount of appointment increase, i'll see if i can reduce my hours and if thats happens and continues to grow, i may then leave my job to persue. But there are alot of hypotheticals there. lol this has turned into an essay. i do appreciate all comments and concerns from people, especially the pirate comment from jaime. should reflexology not work out, i guess i could invite in lookin at a ship or two....
