Cecily Strong gets tickled throughout SNL sketch

Cecily Strong's first appearance on SNL's "Weekend Update" (from her very first episode) featured her playing a character named Mimi Morales who gets tickled by her boyfriend throughout her chat with Seth Meyers.

Interestingly enough, Cecily herself mentions this character in an interview.....in fact, it was her audition piece! Here's what she had to say about it:

RD: I'm sure everyone asks you this, but what of your audition has been on the show, if anything? Did you do "Girl You Don't Want to Talk to at a Party?"

CS: No, that wasn't at the audition. I think the only one that got turned into something, was my first week on the show, [when] I did Mimi Morales. That was in my audition, sort of, but I just called her "Girl Who's Always Being Tickled by Her Boyfriend in Public."

There was some backlash against this character, a white girl playing a Latina, so it was dropped.

1/25/21 Update: Just happened upon a clip of her quickly talking about her auditioning with this character to get on SNL; Whitney Cummings is sitting right next to her and has a pretty good reaction.

Hey thanks, no one commented at first, I thought I had posted a dud! Which I knew I hadn't! I have a bunch more stuff to post, I'll get to it soon.

Yeah, it's a pity, I have a feeling if it wasn't for the backlash, we could have had a recurring character who's main feature is that she's getting tickled!

I love that this was her audition piece, it's something she worked up on her own, before she was ever even on SNL. Hot.
