Celebrating Community History -- HELP!

I'm in the midst of a new venture that I hope will help to strengthen and further unite the online community...as a whole, not just here at the Theater. I've started a new site and yahoo group where we can work on things and celebrate who we are. (read here for more info. - http://www.tickletheater.com/showthread.php?t=15192 )

One part of this new venture will be to gather data to put together a history of the online tickling community. We hope that this will be one way of reminding everyone that we have more in common that we have differences. Since I came into the community later than many, I'd like to ask you pioneers for your assistance. If you can be of any help in putting this together, it would be much appreciated. I have a few folks I plan to write in person to ask about this. But, I'd like to hear from as many folks as possible.

NOTE: This is not simply going to cover the early days. So, I'd ask anyone who currently has a site to write up a quick line or two about when it got started and how...and whatever else you'd like to add in.

I can't think of any ideas, now, aside from some type of milestone section for the community.
Uh, however, if this goes through, we may want to skip over the infamous "Yaqi blasting the tickling community on Dean's world" incident.

If I think of anything profound for a brainstorm, I'll let you know.

Yeah. I'm going to definitely keep it to the positive stuff. While we need to recognize the negatives for what they are in order to help us avoid the same pitfalls in the future, they arent something I want to necessarily "celebrate".

It may not be Ann, but it's our history nonetheless and I personally wouldn't want to see it excluded. Even if you look at it as the worst thing that ever happened to us, it's still something people can learn from. I don't think we should be selective about our history; it leaves us open to critiscism of being selectionist.

I wouldn't have a problem including the simple fact that Yaqi has been on several radio/tv shows over the past few years. I might even include the simple fact that many of his comments have been controversial within the community. However, I don't want to open things up to folks saying that we're badmouthing someone by pointing out the obvious. I wouldn't figure on including too many specifics of that any more than I would a detailed description of every gathering that takes place. Rest assured, he'll be in there as (I hope) everyone else with a site, etc. will.

I don't see how anyone could reasonably say you were badmouthing him anyway though, cos I imagine it would be neutrally toned to start with.

Yes, as I hope we will be able to do with everything. This also won't be to pat any one individual or group on the back. The entire community deserves a pat on the back for its very existence. Everything will be represented evenly...or as evenly as information allows.

During the interview Yaqi described most of the tickling community as (paraphrasing) obsessively masturbating idiots, too obsessed with sitting in their darkened room and posting gormless threads about which celebrity they'd like to see tickle tortured, instead of going out and finding someone to have tickling fun with, or even a partner. There were a few fucks and bastards thrown in for good measure too. Heh.

Dunno about anyone else, but it sounds like me to a tee. :cyclopes:



The point being that he could have been more constructive and not so harsh. Points are rarely taken when driven in with a hammer, even if the original thought was constructive.
