With my move to NY next month, both a friend of mine, and Verizon, suggested that I should ditch my monthly phone plan, and just switch to a pre paid plan instead. I've never done pre paid before. I've just had a monthly phone plan, etc.

What do forum members think is a better option? This would only be a temporary situation, as I will probably switch plans again when I move to NY. Although someone did tell me that pre paid is more expensive than a monthly plan,

Any suggestions as to which one might be a better option?

I went to Wal-Mart bought the phone and the minutes, don't have to pay monthly bills.

I always stick to what i know so id go with the monthly plan. I use to have verizon but i ended up switching to sprint since it was cheaper so it depends on the carrier. If its only temporary then id stay with the monthly since i also heard that prepaid plans are alot more expensive.

i have been on pre paid for many years and find it the best its cheaper and no contract u can cancel if need bee with out repercussions

Thanks, guys,. and girl.. lol.

When my mom was alive, she had a monthly plan. It seemed to work good, so, at the time, I got the same monthly plan she did, with a different phone number of course. The problem is.. since she passed away.. I've been calling a lot more people, using premium minutes, and my bills are much higher. I was just looking to save a few bucks in my last weeks here, and then figure out what plan I want when I get to NY.

I'll go to the Verizon store tomorrow and talk to them about pre paid. I'll compare and see what's best. Thanks again.

We love Boost. It's a prepaid plan that runs on Sprint towers. It's been reliable and is less than 100 for both of us. If you're going to get a plan, however, I would stay away from AT&T
