When Ross entered the office in OKC, he shook hands with Fritz and Steve, tossed his suitcase in his office, and grabbed an iced tea out of the fridge.
The three men sat In Ross's office, and started talking.
"You all better best friend and partner?" Fritz asked.
"Well enough to be here. How are your families?" Ross asked
"Just fine" Fritz said./
"Doing okay, how is Miss Kayley?" Steve asked.
"Better now, thanks, that I'm better. Okay, so you gave me some big news on the phone. Fritz, you told me that the TEC removed our stop on drilling in the Texas border property, so what do we do?" Ross asked.
"All the geological say there's a ton of natural gas there. I think, we should spend the short-term getting specifics, and then, gather up a group of investors to buy, buy buy" Fritz bellowed.
"Sounds like a good plan. In the meantime. John from Toronto told me that there is a test well that came in. If that is so, it sounds to me like I should fly up there for the day since New York is closer to Toronto than OKC is, meet with John, get the geological on the test well and the surrounding fields, send them to you guys, and then we probably should all get on a conference call to read them together, and figure out how to get investors for that project. " Ross said.
"Sounds like an excellent plan" Fritz said.,
Then Fritz continued. "Sooooo., how is Sir Timothy Patrick these days, or should I not ask?" Fritz said.
"You can ask. Well, since RossShell scaled down, Tim and I have actually been getting along much better. His business is more streamlined, and we agreed that he allow me to get a Vice President to help me with his work, so that my commitment to the partnership with the men sitting in this room be top priority. If we want to drill test wells all over the country and all over the world, we figure it out and do it. If we want to build a small development, it happens when we figure out the money and the zoning issues. Kayley knows all this, and she is very supportive and happy about all of it" Ross said.
"Sooo nice when you can have peace and quiet all over your life, with your wife, your clients, and your friends" Fritz said.
"It most certainly is!" Ross said.
"So how long can you stay?" Fritz asked.
"I should go home so that I'm home Wednesday night. I promised teacher three days and I would be home. Something is swirling around in my mind. Personally, while all this is going on, instead of us sitting here and doing all kinds of meeting and discussions, how about we get up tomorrow morning, have a car or SUV drive us over to the Texas border site, talk to all the foreman and appropriate people there, and try to see exactly what the lay of the land is. Once I go back to New York , its going to take a couple of weeks before I can get up to Toronto, have the meeting with John, and then for all of us to get on the conference call to figure out the specifics. We have to figure that the Oklahoma wells and properties have been sold off, so now we have to focus on Texas border and eventually, Toronto" Ross said.
"Sounds like an excellent plan. Let's do it!" Fritz said.
Fritz., Steve, and Ross went out to an early dinner. Fritz and Steve then drove Ross back to Ross's hotel, and Ross called Kayley.
"Hi, Cowboy. How was the meeting" Kayley said.
"Well, Fritz, Steve and I are going to get a car to take us over to the Texas border tomorrow morning to talk to the people about the specifics of how much natural gas is in those fields. It could be huge, but even if it is not as big as the ones we just sold off in Oklahoma, it is worth the time and money to drill, get investors, and sell it off, because we still dont know the extent of the Toronto and the Anchorage holdings. I'm going to go up to Toronto either for the day or overnight next week to meet with John, the head of the Toronto project, and Anchorage is down the road" Ross said.
"Okay, have a good time with the boys. Nightie night " Kayley said, blowing Ross a kiss through the phone.
"Sweet Dreams My Love" Ross said, clicking off the phone.
The next day, Fritz, Ross and Steve met early at Ross's hotel to take the trip to the Texas border. They all took overnight bags depending on how the meetings turned out.
When the men got to the Texas border some three hours later, they met with the fore people of the site.
"Mister Fritz, Mister Ross, Mister Steve, so good to meet you all" the foreman said.
"You can drop the Mister, we are just Ross, Fritz and Steve" Ross said.
"Yes sir, Ross" The foreman said.
"If there is a lunch place we can go to discuss everything, I suggest that the four of us go to lunch and discuss the specifics of how much product you think is in the ground in these fields. Once we get the specifics, we will go back to OKC, talk about it, and get the investors" Ross said.
"Okay, Ross, sounds like a good plan" The foreman said.
The four men got into the SUV, and went to a nearby burger and steak place. They ordered lunch, and began discussion.
"Based on what I see, this is a very significant field. I know that you gentlemen just sold off massive strikes in Oklahoma. I dont think that this is as big as those were, but still very good" The foreman said.
"Please dont worry about the things we just did in Oklahoma. We are only interested in what we have here. That is what the four men at this table are and should be focused on now" Ross said.
"Okay, well rough guesstimate. A half a billion in natural gas. There could be another one hundred mil in oil, but we wont be sure until all the spots are drilled. " The foreman said.,
"Well we are very happy with that a half a billion in natural gas, and another one hundred million in oil is nothing to sneeze at. Oh, and by the way, you will be getting a handsome sum equal to one year of your regular"salary as a bonus for finding and helping us with this strike, plus a generous raise" Fritz said.,
"Thank You , Fritz, I appreciate it" The foreman said.
The men finished lunch, drove the foreman back to the site, then drove back to OKC and to the office. It was by then late afternoon.
"RC, why dont you get the Hell out of here, and go home to that pretty wife of yours. We have nothing more to do here. I think you should keep Miss Teacher happy" Fritz said.
"Investors?"" Ross said.
"Ross, you know as well as I do that we cant do investors in one day. You could get a lot more accomplished in New York than here. As you always say, you can come back on a day or two's notice anyway.
Go home, see the teacher, and ahhhhh. Maybe,, start interviewing some VP's to make your life easier with Sir Timothy" Fritz Hinted.
"Ahh, okay, I see, an ulterior motive, but a good one. Okay, fine. I will make a flight, go home tonight, see Kayley, and then tomorrow think about what to do" Ross said.
Ross went into his office, and made a midnight flight home to JFK from OKC through Dallas. Then he called the Teacher.
""Teacher, its your other half. Meeting on Texas border done, and went well. It will take time to get investors, so let's just say I was thrown out of here by Sir Fritz, and strongly advised to come home to you. I am on a midnight flight home, will be in JFK at 6 am, and no office for Ross tomorrow. I know you have to go to work, so I will just rest" Ross said.
"Maybe not, I have not called in sick for a long time. How about teacher is sick, and teacher and student spend the day together, and think of things to do" Kayley said.
"Sounds like a wonderful idea to me, see you in the morning" Ross said.
Ross went to OKC airport, flew through Dallas, got on his plane to JFK, and landed at 615 am , getting home at 7.
Kayley was at the front door when she heard Ross's key.
"Good morning, teacher. So wonderful to see you" Ross said, kissing Kayley.
Ross went to the bedroom with his suitcase, threw off his clothes, put on a pair of boxer shorts, and went into his home office.
Ross's red light on his answering machine was flashing. He listened to the message, and was truly irritated.
The message was from of course, Sir Timothy.
