Okay, I'm trying to change the format of my DVD files so I can edit them on my computer and post online. But everytime I've tried to change the format it messes up the clip. Is there a better way to go about doing this???

First, I've moved this to Gen Dis as it doesn't have a clip. Second, how are you changing the format? With a converter? Which one? And, which format are you starting with and with which format do you wish to end with?

I'm starting with some format with the extension .VOB and I'd like to convert it to .WMV. you see I had to burn it on a dvd to get it to my computer, and now I'm having hell just trying to put it on a format thats supported.

yeah, it is longer than fifteen minutes. and the hero software said "no registration, stopping transfer"

Hmm...the trouble is that most converters are either not free or free with limitations (Like the watermark or 15 minute thing). Media Player Classic will play it with no limitation, but beyond that I am afraid I am mostly useless. There is one option you may try: VOB is essentially interchangable with MPEG. Try renaming the file to .mpg instead of .vob and then use CinemaForge, http://www.download.com/CinemaForge/3000-2169_4-10373646.html, to attempt a convert. This may work and it may not, but it is possible. If you have a Mac, and I'd guess you don't, iSquint might do it with no change. http://www.isquint.org/
