Up until the site went down I could access the chatroom. Now I get an error message which reads

"DigiChat could not connect to the serve. If you are connecting through a firewall or proxy server you may not be able to use DigiChat. Java security access control exception: access denied (java.net socketpermissions 74.86.241.135:443 connect, resolved)"

I've downloaded the latest version of java but without any sucess.

Can anyone help?

In all likelihood, it was Digichat's failure, not yours. If it works now, that was it. If it was a firewall problem, you'd never be able to get in.

Your firewall needs to allow a program called wjview.exe in your windows/system32 folder access. If it does not get permission the chat wont run. Its a bit weird cause just allowing the chat program is not enough. At least that was the case for me when I got a new firewall but mods get in to chat a different way so I am not sure if this will work for you.

After trying everything I can think of, my access problem persists and I still cannot get into the chatroom.
I read that it might be to do with the latest version of Java (version 16?) being incompatible with digichat, but after removing version 16 and loading version 3, the access problem remains. It is SO frustrating!!!

Can anyone help?

Version 16? Version 3? I assume you mean version 6, update 16, correct? From the main Java site?

Are you running any sort of firewall or antivirus software? If so, what brand and version? You may, as others noted, need to set up your security software to work with Java.

Hi.
Yes, I meant version 6 updates 3 and 16.
I'm running Kaspersky 2009 security with all recent updates so maybe that's where the problem lies. I shall investigate that next.

Thanks.

You may wish to try disabling Kaspersky TEMPORARILY when you try to access the chatroom. Try clearing your temporary internet files/cache (I can tell you how if you tell me your browser), disabling Kaspersky, and immediately going directly to the TMF. Sign in, go to the chatroom forum, and try to enter. See if it works. If so, immediately reenable Kaspersky and let us know; we'll have to define some kind of "exception" for the chatroom files/Java within Kaspersky.

I'm using Windows Internet Explorer Version 7 (I think)
I'm pretty sure it's a Kaspersky problem and it's REALLY annoying 'cos I'm missing not being able to chat!
Wouldn't disabling Kaspersky leave me open to virus's?
