Chat Room and Applets, question

I just had a few minute chat in the chatroom. A warning came up on my computer about applets being applied. Can anybody tell me is something to worry about? Will it damage my system? Will it allow the chatter to enter the computer? What is an applet? Thanks for your time. Mystertic

An applet is a general name for small Java programs that make the chat room work. They are harmless, and will do your computer no harm.

So use the Chat room with no worry, there is nothing in the applets that will harm your computer at all.
