A small number fo chat users have reported to me that they cannot get into the chat room (I'm in this group also folks). I've been in touch with the chat folks and the problem is not on their side. It seems to be an issue that some ISP providers have from time to time. Their explanation:
Most ISP's use a caching service to give the impression of faster connection speeds however this has a downside in that if a bad connection is cached then when a user tries to connect the enquiry is dealt with locally and returned a response of unavailable based on the stored information, this
could simply be because ONE person could not connect through a bad line connection and that failure has been stored therefore ALL users after this event would suffer the same problem. Eventually the caches are cleared (between 4 and 24 hours) at which time the problem would be resolved, as you
can see there is nothing we can do to stop this as it is outside of our network, the only option is to have a back-up ISP.
As this happened first on a Friday night, the cache clearing might not take place until Monday.
We'll this was educational at least 🙂
So we wait. I regret the frustration many of you are having.
