A number of folks have been reporting chatroom troubles lately. After some investigation it has been discovered that the chatroom does not play nicely with the newest version of Java (Update 3 of Version 6). Please do NOT install this update until we can confirm that it does not break the room for you. If you have already installed it please perform the following:
1. Open the "Add or Remove Programs" tool in Start>Control Panel
2. Find any programs with names like "J2SE Runtime Environment" or "Java(TM) 6". The "Show Updates" button in the upper right may need to be checked.
3. Remove all versions of Java found in this manner and restart your computer.
--NOTE:If you have a program called "Java(TM) 6 Update 2)" you may wish to try removing all but that one and then restarting your computer. Try logging on then. If this fails remove it too and see step 4.
4. Once all are gone head to http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u2/index.html
5. Look for "Download JRE". It should be near the bottom of the page.
6. Click it. You'll be taken to a new page. Look for "Required: You must accept the license agreement to download the product." Put a tick in the little circle next to "Accept".
7. The page should reload. Click now on "Windows Offline Installation (build 06), Multi-language". It is the first link in the "Windows Platform" area. You should be prompted to save a file. Save it and note where you saved it.
8. Run the saved file and install Java. Reboot your computer when finished and then attempt to access the chatroom.
Any problems? Let me know here or via PM.
