So, has anyone done anything wacky at work (or college or university) to help raise donations for it?

Oh, just to fill the majority of us in (people from outside Britain), Children in need is a British Charity appeal set out to assist other charities working with Children. And it's very successful, raising about £20 million every year! 😀

So, it's sort of a "British Tradition" to raise funds for it and a lot of work places and schools do a lot to raise money for it. 😛

At the place I work, there was a "C.I.N Poker Tourney" with a £20 buy-in and a prize of a weekend for two in the lake district (courtesy of the company) to who ever came first, and wine for second and third, we raised £400 from that. Then there was a Company party, raising about £1100 from drinks, food and donations. Those being the two main things, we have done lil things such as "Crazy Wigs" where we all wear extremely weird wigs! XD

It's quite fun to do really, and for a good cause! ^_^

In college, I got up as my sorority representative and performed in front of the entire greek community while wearing a tie-dye toga...I played guitar and sang "Puff The Magic Dragon"...it was so much fun, and it helped raise money for a Pediatric AIDS fund...good times!!!

No, the Doctor Who special is closer to Christmas this year, not on CIN. Got me thinking though, if anyone got people to sponsor them to be tickled? :tounge:

you sick minded turtle you....well, we sold candy and sent the $ to various child helping community's...that was fun, and to everyones supprise, nobody cheated; so all the $ recieved 4 the candies was indeed turned it...its like there are nice people out there...nah. 😛

BWUAHAHAHA! XD

My wife and I help support a children's home sponsored by our church and other similar projects conducted by sponsored missionaries. Not familiar with that group, Bob, but I assume they use the money well? I've seen too many groups where when all is said and done, less that 60% of the bucks get to the people in need. I always check out groups closely to make sure where the money actually goes.

Ah, Children in Need is this TV programme that lasts about 8 hours, with callers donating money via phone and the internet (and post). And it's been a proven fact that none of the raised money goes to administrative costs, and it ALL goes to the cause.

I didn't see the end of 'Children in Need' BWBob, as I was tickling this lady half to death! LOL. What was the final amount raised? (...And, I think 'Girls Aloud' should be foot tickled in stocks to raise money next year...very aptly named group if that happened lol!)

the hollywood brother never heard of thischarity but the holllywood brother has been caught making donations to charities that help people

Amount Raised On the Night of the Appeal: £18,300,392 (not sure if it's a record or not)

And Children in Need is a British Charity appeal HB! XD
