Christian Bale Meltdown! (f-bombs warning!)

If he spoke to me like this, I would've landed in jail! Does he realize he's like the 10th batman? In other words, he can be easily replaced.
 
Although this kinda explains why Bats was always growling at people in the last movie....sheesh!

Good point. Not to mention, the DP had brought his pet donkey to the set that day as well, and since the DP had given it some Spanish Fly, it was just humping everything in sight like a madman. Hence, Bale's threat to "kick (his) fucking ass" was entirely justified.

hmm...funny. so, Mr. Bale here can't be excused for being pissed when someone fucks up his work? heh, funny. seems to me that, if someone just decided to come in and fuck up something you were working on, you'd probably lose your cool as well.

He's a human being who'd better learn to control his temper before he comes across someone who doesn't care about his star power and puts him in his place!

I'm sorry, I have absolutely no sympathy or tolerance for ANYONE who feels it's okay to publicly filet someone open. That is one of my top no-no's; if you have something to say to me, you better make it private or I'm going to tear your head off! It's humiliating and disresptful; Christian Bale is nobody to get away with it. It's inexcusable, plain and simple.

I think he can be excused without it going completely unremarked. Nobody is saying, that I've seen, that he has to be kicked off the planet or banished from society. They're just saying he was being an asshole, which he was.

Yeah, and he's totally right. This Shane guy is an amateur. I mean, Spanish Fly? Any DP (Donkey Prepper) worth his salt knows the best way to prep the donkey for gratuitous, libidinous cavorting on a set full of time-traveling cyborgs is to lace its oats with ground-up Cialis -- if you care about the health of the donkey, that is. And to top it off, he's messing with the lights.

I mean, the light-tweaking I could understand, but poorly-managed donkey-fucking is where I draw the line.
 
Although Christian Bale overreacted, the fact is that the guy kept walking in the middle of the set not once but at least two times prior to Bale blowing up. So was Bale justified in being angry? Absolutely. Should he have screamed at the guy the way he did? No, not at all. But as someone stated earlier, not all of us are perfect and I'm sure everyone of us can think of at least one instance where someone kept interrupting us in the middle of our job and it really got to us. Some of us are just better at dealing with it than others.
As far as the person who said that "This is the 10th Batman and he can easily be replaced", while he may not be the first Batman, no one can argue that he is one of the best, if not the best. If anybody else recalls, once they began to change the actor playing Batman in the prior franchise, the movies began to fall apart.
 
Thanks for the aint it cool news piece. The first time I heard about this I wondered what the scene he was shooting was about. Anyone who thinks acting is an easy job and that Christian Bale was being a baby should try waking up at 3 in the morning to be on set at 5 and have 3 hours of prep time to mess up your emotions on purpose regardless of how your day is going. (It wouldn't matter if your pet died, if a relative was sick or like in Christian's case, your family was giving you shit because with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake a movie can rarely afford to stop or slow down) Then try and repeat that emotion multiple times in a row all day long exactly the same way until everyone is happy with your close up which usually means you finish shooting at around 2 in the morning because every single cut means an hour or two of waiting for the scene to be set up with lights and sound and make up and everything else. Then try and do this for four months straight including weekends.

Quiet on set means absolute silence for the actors concentration as well as the sound guys who pick up pins dropping on their mikes. He was a dick for yelling as much as he did but given the circumstances as covered in the story and the stress he was having with his family at the time and I can respect where he was coming from.

With all due respect, stress and discomfort comes with the job and he gets paid very well for it. No one put a gun to his head and made him become an actor; he chose his profession and whatever comes with it.

Maybe that tirade never would've became public if he didn't do it in the first place or apologize once he got himself calmed down. He sounds like another diva and I bet this isn't the first time he's behaved like this.

If any of us regular folks threw a tantrum of this magnitude on the job, guess where we'd be???

I thought dark knight was the most boring movie I ever wasted the time to see so he doesn't impress me at all. I preferred to watch Morgan Freeman's character in batman begins as opposed to Mr Bale. So he should be lucky to have the job and be more respectful to people around him IMO.
 
as far as i can tell, Bale's tirade wasn't Batman related, but done during a scene for the new Terminator movie. so...uh...how 'bout less ragging on him for being the Bat, eh?

as to him being a "diva", and us "regular folks"...see, actors operate on contracts, so you can't fire one if you don't like their attitude, how ever (un)justified.

this happens more often than people publicize. i imagine someone leaked this out to the media as a better-late-than-never follow up of the crap Bale dealt with when his family wasn't getting what they thought they deserved.

so, how's about not :beathorse:. people think he sucks, others think he's damn good at what he does. EOD, i think.

I agree; the astonishing storyline and remarkable acting bored me to death. Thank goodness for Morgan Freeman; his character was barely trumped by his role of God in Bruce Almighty!!! Maybe he will play Batman if Christian Bale gets sentenced to life in prison! Sweet!!!

All witty sarcasm aside:

I am entitled to my opinion and the movie was simply boring. I barely made it to the end without falling asleep. The only good thing about it was the fact that I rented it for $1.00 at the redbox so I didn't stand in some ridiculously long line shelling out big bucks to see what the big hullabaloo was about!

And if Mr Bale doesn't get his temper in check, maybe he will end up in prison and someone else off the street can step in to replace him.
 
going to prison for a bad temper? damn, i should have been incarcerated 100 times over!

unless i'm missing something, we are all human. and, i don't know about anyone else, but if someone waltzed in, not once, but twice, and screwed around while i was trying to work on a time-sensitive project, i wouldn't be too happy about it.

Not to pick on you or anything , kis123 , but ... you've never had a bad day? You've never lost your temper? You've never reacted to something or someone & regretted it later?

I think most of us have come across a post or two on this forum where you haven't been shy about displaying ... um , passion ... in responding to different topics. Maybe not to the extent of dropping F-Bombs , but I think you may have a few occasions under your belt where you've maybe called people out on something they posted & maybe remarked on their degree of intelligence. Unless I'm thinking of another kis123 ... 🙄

Again , I don't say these things to pick on you , but just to maybe help you better understand where Christian Bale was coming from when he lost it.

I'm pretty much in the same boat w/you on this one , though ... The Dark Knight is waaayyyyy overrated.
 
I'm appalled at how many of you just totally dismiss the health of the donkey. Somewhere, Juan Valdez weeps over a pot of finely-brewed Colombian coffee. That man loved donkeys.

And yet, there's extraordinary concern and much ado made about the actions of an overpaid jackass.*

*For the record, I believe Bale may well have been deeply invested in a scene and felt right on the money with it, and it's hard for anyone to have that disrupted if you feel it's your best take or something. In his mind, he's trying to bring art to what he's doing, and to have a great moment shat upon kinda' sucks, so I feel his rage. It's like you're building a world-record house of cards, and standing precariously on your three-storey ladder, some jokey bastard down the line hands you a domino instead. At the same time, tens of millions of dollars for a couple of months of work (which is what many of your Hollywood set gets) makes you overpaid IMO. And when you have this level of blow-up, when you're making as much money as he is, on a fourth movie in a franchise, and you have the skill to muster your concentration and shoot the scene again (which you'd better if they're paying you over a mill) you make yourself look foolish and hypocritical and paint a target on your chest when you call someone else "amateur". Add to it the fact that if the pinnacle of his career to this point had been "American Psycho", probably no one would give a crap, and the absurdity of commenting on this in any serious manner becomes tangible. Most of you wouldn't care about this at all if Bale didn't spend part of his career running around wearing rubber suits with long pointy ears while trying to destroy his throat with a comical growl.

And thus, I must make jokes about oversexed donkeys. It is at least as relevant to my life as Bale dropping the f-bomb, and far more entertaining.
 
He might love his donkey a little too much.
