Codecs...

Due to the different troubles with codecs, i've packaged several useful codecs than aren't available in an easy way (you must to look for them hardest), so that you'll can to get them with a download, after you'll install them. These codecs are for Win XP (32 bits) and WMP 9 Series. I hope that this one will be useful for most of you. Here's the link Codecs.zip.

PS: If Val or another admin/moderator consider correct to move this thread into sticky's zone (on Video clip corner and The Splits), would be perfect in my opinion.

My favourite codec pack is the K-Lite Basic, available here. It solves most playback problems with .avi and Divx videos.

im having trouble saving .rar files. the link enclosed has lots of cool videos but all he posts is in .rar and i cant save any of them. what program should i download to save them (thats free?) so far i have keepvid (doesnt work), and vidtomp3 (doesnt work) any suggestions?? thanx in advance.

You need a .rar utility, like the free 7-Zip or the shareware WinRAR. You'll have to save the file to your computer in order to unzip it. It should then play in the appropriate video player for its file type.

ok i think ill use 7-zip BUT which one should i do for 8-19-2008, the 32bit with 857kb or the x64 with 1117kb? thanx for your help!

That depends on whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows. You can probably find it on your computer's packaging or in Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> System.

If you really want a codec pack the Combined Communith Codec Pack, CCCP, is the best bet now days. K-lite can have issues depending on your system configuration.

I personally don't use either. I've get a few specific codecs and FFDSHOW takes care of just about everything else.

FFDShow Codec: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm (works with AVI, DIVX, FLV, MP4, and many other formats)
