I've been ruminating on tickling(surprise!) and the nature of the members of the online community. [ame=http://tickletheater.com/showthread.php?t=50832]Certain threads[/ame] of late point-up some obvious differences as to how people into this fetish tend to view tickling at it's most fundamental level.

I feel there are two distinct sorts of mindsets. There are the people who see tickling as playful sexy fun, and those who see it as torturous sexy fun. Is there a whole lotta crossover? Yessireebob.

Still, I wonder if, down the road, it might not be even more satisfying to the majority involved if the two camps had their own forums to flourish in. Would most of us probably visit both venues? Undoubtedly. But instead of the constant clashes that I've witnessed over the finer points for years now both here and at our big-sister board, I wonder if it migt not be prudent.

Anyone else's thoughts on the idea are appreciated. :toetap05:

Are you referring to different forums on the board, or different boards (sites) completely? What exactly would be different about them anyway? I think if you try to divide it up like that it would probably not work so well. The old "divided we fall" saying comes to mind. :blink

Yah, I suspect you are correct, TickleTheater. Tickling is too much of both things to ever warrant distinct boards like that. I enjoy the lite n' fluffy approach just as much as the bondage n' torment side. Together is better.

For some it might be, Rick. For my part, I think I'd enjoy a place where I can take things the way I like it and not have to hear people going on about how things need to be all playful and childishly innocent.

And that's precisely where we(and I do mean 'we' as a community) seem to implode.

There's the "Giggle, tee-hee! STOP that!"-camp and then there's the "BwaHaHaHahahahahaSTOPITYOU'REKILLINGME!"-camp.

The question is: Can the two ever coexist peacefully? :yinyang:

Not as long as there's people like me on either side who seem to constantly take exception when the others get their way.

The biggest clashes I've seen here and on TMF had nothing do with "hardcore" tickling vs "softcore" tickling.

I just don't see an issue between the two sides, unless people from both sides talking to each other and disagreeing counts as an issue.

I think it's best that we just have tickling forums, and not tickling forums dedicated to certain types of tickling, cus really, there's a million different types of tickling. There would be like ten people on each forum haha.



I'll admit, I could have argued in that "Gags... why?" thread all day long haha. I just made one comment and bailed. I've learned that arguing on the internet with strangers is retarded, even though it's hard to resist, really hard.

Rick: you'd be better off abstracting out the "hardcore" and "torturous" qualities and just making a forum for hardcore, torturous s/m in general. Which there's a surprising lack of. Papi is right that torturous tickling is too niche.

Ya know... I'm all for some of us branching out and creating a S&M forum with all the qualities of TT. That is to say its homey nature, its equal division of subforums, and so forth. I'd feel quite at home in such a place.

Honestly, I always think there are room for both kinds, I happen to like both sides of tickling, the cutesy playful type as well as the down and dirty tickle her til she's out cold type. I see no reason we can't get along.
