Cheers Deet'.
I've never been that worried about political correctness. The Benny Hill thing is pretty much there, although it's that general feel of British sex comedies and Russ Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, which i'm quite fond of for quite a few different reasons. There's a story i've written and that I hope to draw one day that makes more explicit homage to various scenes and characters, but the old man- young lovely dynamic was always there in those bawdy films of the seventies. If you've ever seen 6' Hammer and Bond beauty Valerie Leon teasing a little old man half her height, you might see where I get some inspiration for Barbara. There's also that hint of Meyer: the most unsuitable, deranged male characters having access to gorgeous girls. Call it a leitmotif in my work (inc. non-tk), somehow the old and deranged corrupting the ripe and beautiful has an emotional and aesthetic power.
I went to their hometown of Bournemouth today, simply because I was bored and needed to escape the house (still looking for work). I got a sense of where they came from and will use my experience in the origin story. No Prickly Hills analogue to be found though.
Darth Godflesh, no phylum will be the seen in the same manner when these comics are done. Congrats on the name.
