Have you ever been, or encountered somebody, who's a compulsive liar? And how did it affect you or them?
For example, when I was doing my basic training at Deepcut, there was this corporal who seemed really decent, until somebody told me that he was a compulsive liar. Apparantly, he'd told this girl he was dying of cancer in order to get her to go out with him. The problem with this is that the girl was not only a lifelong friend of his, but also of his family. So the plan fell apart when she gave her condolences to his mother, who naturally knew that it was a big lie.
Another not-quite-so-extreme example was a friend of mine from University who had started going out with this girl. For some reason, he ended up following her to school and sitting in on her lecture. When the lecturer asked why he was there, he said he was an exchange student. Five minutes later he was stood at the pulpit-thingy giving an impromptu lecture about the new exchange program he was involved with.
I don't think I'd have the lack of foresight to lie about cancer, or the reflexes to make up a speech in front of a room full of students, so I tend to try and steer clear of it, but do any of you guys have any funny stories?
