So I need help really bad. I went and downloaded this file from Ticklephiles on clips4sale and the long and short of it is I can't play it with Winamp, Media Player, or Realplayer. Realplayer is the only software that told me you need codec Windows Media 8 or some such thing and so I followed the link:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/PLAYER/WEBHELP/DEFAULT.ASPX?ID=C00D10D1&codec=WMV2

Which took me to:

http://www.wmplugins.com/ItemDetail.aspx?&codec=WMV2

On this page you will see in blue text click here to download this codec, okay sure, so I click on it. Accept the yadda yadda...And it takes you to some fucked up page that apparently has nothing to do with the codec that I need. I tried downloading like the Media Player version 11 I think and I tried downloading all the stuff on that page and nothing. I even got a little bit smart and went to the page Download Center and another page which featured all the codecs and what have you with the Window Media 8 codec at the bottom of the page, but I clicked on it and it took me back to that stupid IT page which has nothing to do with WM 8 codec.

So...my question to you all is Microsoft being retarded, is there another place to get this codec, or did I just waste 10 bucks on this stupid clip, which btw happens to be a .wmv format too just fyi.

If I wasted 10 bucks be warned Ticklephiles is a very unproffessional clips store.

Ten bucks have probably been wasted. Because WMV stands for Windows Media Video now, you might need to update your media player, but I BELIEVE YOU DID THAT.......hmm....yep. Ten bucks down the drain. We can add Ticklephiles to the unprofessionals.

You need the "ffdshow" codec pack, i just did zip it in the file called "Codec.zip" available in the sticky thread "Codecs..." in vidclip corner and The Splits forum. Go to that sticky thread, download the "Codec.zip" file, unzip the files inside it, and after install each file (including "ffdshow" file). If you install codecs included there, then probably you won't get troubles with most of clips available in the market. Here there's an image of ffdshow's configuration screen, you can watch than wmv2 codec is included and supported by the "ffdshow" decoder.

I am completely stumped. I had restarted my computer after trying to download all that stuff yesterday and so you would think that if I downloaded the right thing the clip would have played. But this morning it finally shows a picture of what the clip is and so when I clicked on it, WOOHOO picture!!! So I don't know why it's working now, but I'm not gonna question it lol.

Hmmm, there's something than i don't understand exactly, did you download the Codecs.zip file and after you installed it?, or simply the clip did play without to install anything ?. Anyway, i'm glad than finally you got the clip playing 😉🙂.

I once tried fddshow, but it had some curious effects on my pc.
All over a sudden my mouse could become very slow, but only in one selected application. No problem if that application was a normal program. You could restart the program and the problem was over. But if the effected program was windows explorer, the problem stayed until I restarted my pc.
Furthermore the codec caused Nero to freeze if an mpeg or avi file was selected for burning.
So I deinstalled it and took good old Divx back.

You can use Realplayer 10 for almost every file type, except for .mov and .mp4.
Windows Media Player plays most file types, including some .mp4 files, except for .mov and .rm

Both players need extra codecs for avi some files.

Divx plays .avi, .wmv and .mpg
Quicktime plays .mov, .mpg and most .mp4 files.
WinAmp plays about the same files as Realplayer, but no .rm files.

Videolan VLC Player plays almost all file types without the need of more codecs, including mp4, but no .rm files. It plays also some less used audio files like .flac.

If you have some alternative audio files, like .ape, .flac, .wv, .ogg, .mpc, you can use Nero to hear them. Select them for burning audio CD, select the file and click properties. Then click Indexes and wait untill de audio wave is displayed. Then click Play.

What version you tried ?, mine works just fine !, no problem with it. If you install all codecs packed in the Codecs.zip file, i'm pretty sure that you won't have troubles with almost all clips available in the market.

I replied to your email sent to ticklephiles personally. Whereby I instructed you to check your media player software and THEN I ask you to please get back to me so I can help make sure you can play the clip. See below:

>Hi there,

Then you replied to me:

Subject: RE: clips4sale store problem

It's odd the clip is playing fine this morning. I don't know what has
happened since last night, but I like it : ) She is great, thank you.

My question to you, how does this situation make me unprofessional? What more can we do to ensure that most people can play and enjoy clips other than encode them in the most widely used format? .wmv

What more do you suggest I can do in light of this situation to be 'professional' in your eyes?

I/We always bend over backwards to help our customers and even to help people on this forum. (Which is why I actually checked this thread).

And then when I get here I am to find that I am being accused of being unprofessional.

Thanks.

I don't want to be a smart ass, but to you sir infojoe, please read exactly how you were labeled unprofessional.

Notice the IF. The clip did actually work for what reason is anyone's guess, but IF it had not worked and IF I had not heard back from you then THAT would have qualified you as unprofessional.

There has only been one unprofessional clips4sale vendor that I know of and that was some clips store along the lines of european tickle girls or something. I haven't seen them on clips4sale for a while so apparently they left. I had bought a clip of their's once and got no reply from them nor did the clip work.

Look Cletus, if there is no instance of unprofessional behavior then I'm sure you can see why it is unfair for the attachment on a public forum. Even with the 'if' prefixed to it.

Anyway, I'm happy you got your problem solved with the viewing of the clip, and I'm glad that you enjoyed it. As a result of your experience, I am making a support page with codecs and media players should there be anybody else that suffers the same problem. Seeing as you are the first to experience this, this is the first time I've had to respond to it. Hence the addition of the codec support page.

I'm not happy when you're not happy, and if there is a problem all I ask is for the opportunity to correct it. And then be judged. I don't want you walking away from Ticklephile Clipstore with a bad taste in your mouth when the aim of the store is the absolute opposite.

As a result, I would like to invite you to visit http://mytickling.com and choose any episode pack of your choice. It is yours for free.

Consider it as my way of making sure that you wouldn't be having similar problems with any other clips from me in future. If there are ever any problems, allow me to help you correct them.

Please email [email protected] with the episode pack of your choice, and I will have her set you up with access.

By episode pack, it means you get the large and small screen .wmv versions, and a picture set with your download.

Best regards,

Infojoe.
