I downloaded a video clip, but was unable to view it at that time, so clicked it off..now i know it's on my computer somewhere, but i can't find it anywhere..i've looked in my documents, my computer, my programs, my files, everywhere...where could it be??? thanks in advance..and not sure if this was the right area to post this problem, as it doesn't have anything to do with problems involving the TMF.

p.s. i can't do a search, as i've forgotten the name of the program.

Question: When you clicked the file, did you choose to "Download" it or "Open With..."?

If you selected "Open With...", the file might be gone, deleted from your temporary space. Go download it again.

If you selected "Save File As", open the same browser you used at the time (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) and click on "Tools>Downloads" (Firefox). Internet Explorer should have saved it in the "My Documents" folder, unless you specified otherwise.

I always click on save as...but it's not in my documents...thanks for replying..i've looked everywhere but i'm afraid it's gone..it's rather funny how when i have forgotten all about something i downloaded, it will turn up when least wanted...say when hubby decides to help me defrag the computer and begins deleting, but opening up first to see what i have..he gets quite the surprise..

Ya gotta pay more attention, sweetie. 😉

yea i know...i'm a goof..actually even though i hold my breath when he opens up these things, he never yells or anything, just shakes his head..

and speaking of him, he has a major problem with his laptop..it suddenly went offline yesterday and began making clicking noises..then that dell thing came up, with a black background and some words..and also it makes musical ding noises..he can get into his computer and programs, but can't get online..is it his hard drive? and will it spread to mine?

Computers should NEVER EVER EVER make clicking noises. (Note: clicking noises are different from sounds coming from the speakers; the sounds are actually mechanical in nature and sound like they are coming from under the keyboard.) A rythmic clicking is a telltale sign of a hard drive failing.

A hard drive is basically a high tech, sealed version of a turntable, only instead of vinyl, they are magnetized, diamond-dust coated metal plates, and there's like, five of them. A little arm extends out over the plates and reads the information as the plates spin under it. This is why hard drives with higher rotational speeds (standard is 7,200 RPM, high end drives rotate at 10,000 RPM) perform faster by transferring information at a higher rate of speed.

By "can't get online", do you mean can't connect to the internet? It's possible that these two problems are unrelated.

Viper, it is the hard drive thanks for answering..and no, the computer won't even come on at all..which means until he receives the new hard drive thingie that he ordered online last night, FROM MY COMPUTER grrr guess what..

WE HAVE TO SHARE MY COMPUTER.... :cry1: :ranty: :ranty: :shake:

oooooooooo he could find some interesting stuff there then ---hee hee <<<<----

Do you know what format the video you downloaded was in?

You can use the * then the extension on the search and it will pull up all files with that extension...such as:

*.wmv

Every clip in .wmv will show up in the results.
