Hopefully nothing is wrong.. but I just got a message.

I was surfing the net, on here in fact, looking at a picture, and got a message.

Software and unwanted spyware protection on your computer.

So.. I clicked on Macafee, and tried to run a scan, and it said Your computer is secure, next scheduled scan Friday 2/26 at 4am,

This computer is only 10 months old, and I cannot be having problems with it now, especially with using it for work related things, etc.

Is this something I should be worried about.. or just a message to disregard?

Thanks.

What gave you that message? In other words, was it just words on a website that literally anyone could have written or did your own spyware say that?

I had just closed the forum page, Jeff. And was on the entry page to my computer.

To tell you the truth, I dont know whether it was words on a page, or my own spyware. . I'm not. tech savvy so to say.

Everything seems okay, so hopefully it was just a scare.

Without seeing the actual message, it sounds like some sort of spam or even an attempt to install spyware. Was there any company name or logo on the message, or did a link appear on it?

Sounds like spam, I would just ignore it and trust your spyware. Some messages pop up saying something is wrong with your computer or that its running slow ect when in reality its trying to get you to install its virus to do harm to your computer. If your software says your computer is fine trust it.

It says spyware and unwanted virus protection. I just saw it again, and now its preventing me from downloading the WPVI website GRRRRR! Just at the 6pm news so I cant watch Gardner.

That definitely sounds like spyware. I'd run McAfee again right now, not wait until Friday. You might also want to try some other virus protection programs, like Malwarebytes; some of today's spyware can actually disable McAfee.
