To all the moderators who have worked on the TMF.........Congrats on reaching "5000" official members. You all have done a fantastic job. This site is truly the definative tickling site on the web. No other site combines all aspects of "our little thing", as I call it, in such a complete and open way.

Speaking Of Numbers

This affords a good opportunity to discuss the numbers and what they might mean.

I don't know the population of the USA (Howdy Brits, I know you're among us too; just being ethnocentristic) but I'll throw out a guess of about 250 million humans.

Again, I don't have the demographics, but I'll disqualify one fifth of that number on account of age.

We're now at 200 million

I'll now assume an internet home presence of fifty percent. (I'm still just making up these numbers based on stuff I read in the past 12 months.)

The number is now 100 million

Doing the math; I get: (5000)/(100000000) = 1/20000

Or: one in twenty thousand.

I'm having difficulty believing these numbers; and I just did them myself. (Somebody please check my arithmetic.)

Ergo,,,, I'm missing at least one significant part of the story.
