Conservative Music

Righto...

We all know about far-left bands like Rage Against the Machine and the Dead Kennedys. My question is, are there many (or even ANY) bands with a conservative message in their music and politics? If not, why not? I guess the first excuse I hear will be 'they've got better things to do with their time than arse around in a band', but there's gotta be better reasons than that.

There are a couple of conservatives in Hollywood. I think Tom Cruise said he would support a war in Iraq, and a couple of others agree with him. Why then, aren't there any bands of any kind of note (no pun intended) who have the same views?

Though I don't know too much about their politics, the band Porcupine Tree seem to have some outspoken opinions. Ann and I saw them live last month with the Venrays and the band had images of political prisoners screening behind them during their show.

I know Ted Nugent is conservative but I'm not really sure if that's reflected in his music or not.

It's usually hard to find conservatives in the entertainment world, especially hollywood. This is semi-off topic but South Park usually has a conservative message in each one of their episodes.

Hm...

I don't think music and politics go together. Why would you want to ruin something like music? Look at Rage, they broke up because the lead singer "wasn't getting enough money"....God...you can tell he was a liberal.

The singer issued a statement on Wednesday blaming the split on the group's inability to work together collectively.

"I feel that it is now necessary to leave Rage because our decision-making process has completely failed," De La Rocha said in the statement. "It is no longer meeting the aspirations of all four of us collectively as a band, and from my perspective, has undermined our artistic and political ideal.

"I am extremely proud of our work, both as activists and musicians, as well as indebted and grateful to every person who has expressed solidarity and shared this incredible experience with us."

If you've got any other information, as a fan, I'd like to read it. It came as a bit of a shock to find out what happened to Rage.

I guess it depends on what you consider conservative music. There are singers who make patriotic and political satire types of music, Christian music,and pop groups and singers who sing more conservative
styles and lyrics.

thats because for the most part, culture has been a target for oppression by the state. so in turn when culture thrives, wheather it be music or other types of art, its political message, if it has one, isnt going to be very right wing.

it was really the state going after two punk rock djs in serbia that ended up bringing down the milosovic regime.

in palestine, israel is basically and has tried to on many occasions, wipe out entire palestinian culture from the face of the earth. (when it took over beriut university they burned the palestinian culture dept to the ground)

In jamaica and africa the reggea culture is quite left wing

In the europe and the US (and growin in latin america) the Punk culture has always been leftist with its roots in anarchism.

another point to look at is that most culture comes from the poor. unlike fake culture that is created by corporations in which its not called culture but a "product" to sell.
