Yesterday I made the first tickling videos for my clips4sale store.
The problem is that for some reason my PC crashes when I just try to
get into the folder where the MPEG file is.
I then installed the software for my camera to my girlfriends computer
instead and exported the videos there instead. Here everything worked
perfect. How ever, when I sendt the videos to my PC, the computer
crashed again when I open the folder the files where in. Don't have
a clue why this happends. How ever, the video editing program I use
don't accept MPEG files, so does anyone know of any user friendly software
where I can convert MPEG to WMV or AVI and still keep the good quality of
the file? I found one software, but the quality gets REALLY bad after converting.

I really want to convert the videos so I can upload em and make some previews
for you guys. So please help!! Thanks

I doubt it is that you don't have the proper codec or software support; this sounds like a corrupt video file. I have a folder similar to this that I keep around for its novelty value. Allow me to explain: when you have a folder with video clips in it that is set to display items as "Thumbnails" or in "Filmstrip" mode it tries to generate a little picture of the video to use as the icon for it. If your video is corrupt then when it tries to do this is crashes. The solution, if you want to access the folder, is to turn off thumbnails in it. I assume here you have Windows XP. If you are using Vista it may or may not be the same procedure.

1. Right-click on the folder and select "Properties"
2. In the Properties window click the "Customize" tab at the top
3. Change "What kind of folder do you want?" to "Documents (for any file type)"
4. Click "Okay" at the bottom

You should now be able to enter the folder with no troubles. Once there you should open each video one at a time until you discover which one is corrupt. Best to isolate it or delete it. If all of them are corrupt then you have a problem with how you are making those MPEG files that I am not sure can be diagnosed over the forum. We'd need to know what software you use to make them.

It works fine at my girlfriends computer. There is also the thumbnail setting there as well. But when you send the file over to my computer, everything "disappear" (also the bottom line with the start button). Then after a second or two everything pops up again, exept for the folder.

A friend of mine who have computer skills will take a look at the problem for me later, so I will export the videos to my girlfriends computer.

How ever, now I got a new problem. I managed to convert the MPEG file to AVI and the quality was about the same. However, the sound disappears here and there and is some places off sync. Have NO idea why this happends.

Im such a noob!! :disgust:

Working with videos is difficult. There isn't any one program I know of that is easy or works well every time. http://media-convert.com/ is a site that I have used before but for larger clips it can take a very long time and does not always do conversions correctly (effects like your lost sound are common). The loss of sound/sound synch is just a conversion abnormality. As every format is different the translation from one format to another often has problems, especially with ancillary elements like sound. Professional Programs like Adobe's Premier Pro (http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/?xNav=PPPR) are known to work well but are complex and very expensive. The lower down in price you go the more likely to find problems with conversion you are, although the free Windows Movie Maker included with Windows XP does a decent job of conversions, albeit to a very limited set of output and formats.

Thanks for the help.
Gonna check it out and see it it works. 🙂

The file is to big for media converter 🙁

Bah! Typical.
My first tickle video, and I can't even convert it to wmv! 😛

Windows Movie Maker may work for you, then. It will convert to WMV. It is usually under Start>All Programs on a Windows XP system.

1. Once open look to the left under "Capture Video" and select "Import vdeo"
2. Choose the clip and click okay
3. Once imported click on the video in the Collections area and drag it down to the timeline below
4. Once in the timeline go back to the "Movie Tasks" area where you imported the video and look for "Save to my computer"
5. Clicking it should produce a new window where you set the movie name and save location. Click next when chosen
6. On the next screen it should ask for movie settings. If all you see is "Best quality for playback on my computer" click on "Show more choices"
7. Once you see an "Other Settings" option choose it. From the drop-down box select the output type. It describes the output type at the bottom once you select it
8. Click next again and it will convert

Damn. Eigther, my girlfriends computer is slow or the file is to big.
WHen I try to import the clip it starts to load, but it never stops. Can't abort it eigther, so it ends up that I have to restart the computer. Damn!!
I really want to get these videos out on the net today!! 🙁

Unsure, then, where to proceed. Your computer shouldn't freeze; it should just take a really long time if the file is large. It is conceivable that her computer is simply too slow but if it is within three years old I don't see how. File corruption is still a potential problem but if you can play the file all the way through then I don't see how. A very strange problem. I do not know the size of the file but if you are able you can send it to me and I can try converting. If it is small enough for you to email (my email is through my domain and has no size limit beyond disk space) try that. hds@ h i sdivineshadow.net Remove the spaces around h i s before using.

Alternatively, you can upload it to Rapidshare or some similar service and send me that link to download. Some services to do so include: http://rapidshare.com/ http://www.yousendit.com/ http://megaupload.com/ http://www.sendspace.com/

Sounds like a great plan. The video file I exported now is 1,2 GB.
Non of the sites can send that much unless you pay, but I can do that if nessesery.
Or do you have MSN? Could try it there first. Send me a PM if we shall try.
