So I found out last Tuesday my cousin was admitted to the hospital because he had cellulitus of the foot. Well, while there, and undergoing a battery of tests, the doctors discovered he had double broncual pnemonia. The week before he had been in Hillcrest for drug addiction, and under THEIR "care" and battery of tests they failed to get him medical attention. So now he lay in a hospital bed, basically in a coma and the doctors aren't sure if hell ever wake up.

Please keep him in your prayers. His name is Stephen Mortakes.

Thank you.

i'm very sorry, airithe. it's not right that they just let him lay there and not give him the proper medical attention he needs. i really hope he makes a full recovery and is, please forgive the pun, back on his feet again. i'll make sure to pray for both you and him. and please, keep us updated on his condition.

Sorry to hear this it brings to mind the old saying "but for the grace of god go i" so i will certainly pray for him.

There is the possibility he may have become diabetic during all this not wishing to load even more on the poor guy, but the background is a classic lead in to being diabetic.

Typical...a rehab clinic ends up almost killing one of their patients. You have my IMMENSE sympathies. Also please tell the family of your friend they are entitled to compensation via medical malpractice and should sue the state that operates the rehab clinic.

So, update.

My cousin was taken off the ventilator this morning at 11:30. He can't talk right now, and is highly confused. The doctors think his mental state will stay like it is now, which isn't good because he, at the age of 20, acts like a five year old with the motor skills of an infant.

Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

I'm glad he's out of the woods. Hope he gets out of the desert soon (so to speak).

Yay! ^_^ That probably means I'll never see him again but eh... *shrugs* At least I was entertaining while it lasted. He was SO not down with the sickness, though.
